In reply to: Is There an Editor that Can Do Mixed HTML and Rich Text? No, the block editor is the opposite of what I want.
The example I gave shows formatted text and HTML that is inserted on a single line.
Selecting the text, and then viewing that selection in HTML inserting the code, and switching back, is as many steps as switching the entire document to HTML, inserting the code, and switching back.
Also, the nature of how I write means that Gutenberg does not work for me. (I am not suggesting that anyone else would have a problem with Gutenberg, just that I do. I put a stake through its heart in my migration test blog because I found it so distracting)
That is why I am looking for an editor that can handle “Spot” HTML coding.
I have a bunch of preset tags that I access via a right-click, and I’d like to do that from the rich text screen.
A typical custom tag that I have is:
<span title="{{zzpopup}}">{{selection}}</span>
I select the text, a popup appears asking for what I want to put in the hover text, and I enter it in.It’s a FF extension that I wrote. (It’s open source, but the code is so ugly that it causes cancer in Tardigraves)
It’s an integral part of how I write, and switching back and forth to HTML view breaks my flow.

In reply to: Looking for File Splitter for Blogger ImportI found a solution, at least for Windows and Windows emulator users involving a PowerPhell script.
The guy posted about it on his blog about 7 years ago, and has a link to the .ps1 file, and the Github is here.
You need to modify the first line of the file to put in the file name, the number of records to group together, and the elements that you are counting (“entry” case sensitive without the quotes for Blogspot).
You need to dial in the number, to make it work. (This is a blogger importer crashing thing, the script works fine, at about 2000 posts a minute) It seems to be about 2M-4M for each thousand posts you break it at.

In reply to: Looking for File Splitter for Blogger ImportSo, do I need an equals sign on all the lines, or just the post_max_size?
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Looking for File Splitter for Blogger ImportI did that, though perhaps I did it wrong:
<filesmatch "^(.htaccess|wp-config.php|wp-settings.php)$"> order allow,deny deny from all </filesmatch> Options All -Indexes # AddHandler "proxy:unix:/run/php/7.0/msaroff|fcgi://localhost" .php # AddHandler "proxy:unix:/run/php/8.0/msaroff|fcgi://localhost" .php AddHandler "proxy:unix:/run/php/7.4/msaroff|fcgi://localhost" .php # BEGIN WordPress # The directives (lines) between "BEGIN WordPress" and "END WordPress" are # dynamically generated, and should only be modified via WordPress filters. # Any changes to the directives between these markers will be overwritten. <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}] RewriteBase /~msaroff/40years/ RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /~msaroff/40years/index.php [L] </IfModule> # END WordPress php_value upload_max_filesize 128M php_value post_max_size 128M php_value memory_limit 256M php_value max_execution_time 3000 php_value max_input_time 3000
I could go to the ISP and get permission, but I would prefer not to, since I am months away from the move, but I want to start using the WP site as a backup now.

In reply to: Can’t Import Posts From Blogspot To WordPressMy apologies.
I thought it was good manners not to start a topic, as is the case on some other software forums.

In reply to: Can’t Import Posts From Blogspot To WordPressI have a similar problem, only blogger generates a 90+ MB file.
The blogger importer says that it has a 20 MB limit, AND it says that it’s not been tested on my version of WP.
When I try to import, first I get the error messages at the top of the page:
Warning: Declaration of WP_SimplePie_Blog_Item::get_id($hash = false) should be compatible with SimplePie_Item::get_id($hash = false, $fn = 'md5') in /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-content/plugins/blogger-importer/blogger-importer-blogitem.php on line 111 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-content/plugins/blogger-importer/blogger-importer-blogitem.php:25) in /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6360 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-content/plugins/blogger-importer/blogger-importer-blogitem.php:25) in /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 1310 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-content/plugins/blogger-importer/blogger-importer-blogitem.php:25) in /htdocs/userdirs/msaroff/40years/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 9
And when I try to run the import anyway, it’s an WP installation on Panix.com, I get, after a long delay, this message:
504 Gateway Timeout The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.
Given that I’ve been on blogger since 2007, 24407 posts, I do understand that my predicament is an outlier.

In reply to: [Blogger Importer Extended] Span Tags Being Stripped OutNot a huge deal.
I use the coloration to indicate quotes, so I don’t think that I will be at risk of being accused of plagiarism.
The first ‘graph is a sufficient indicator.

In reply to: [Blogger Importer Extended] Span Tags Being Stripped OutI went into phpmyWebadmin, and on the options table, deleted all the entries beginning with “bie”, and then redid the import.
At about 800 of 20k posts right now.
Better, but still a minor issue.
I have a multi-paragraph listing quoted:
<span style="color: blue;">The U.S. FAA, relying on refined satellite tracking data and new physical evidence that more closely links two crashes of Boeing 737 MAX 8s, grounded Boeing’s newest narrowbody Mar. 13, with immediate effect.
The move ends three days of cascading groundings after the Mar. 10 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 (ET302) accident, and leaves the world’s MAX fleet grounded.
“On Mar. 13, 2018, the investigation of the ET302 crash developed new information from the wreckage concerning the aircraft’s configuration just after takeoff that, taken together with newly refined data from satellite-based tracking of the aircraft’s flight path, indicates some similarities between the ET302 and [October 2018 Lion Air Flight] JT610 accidents that warrant further investigation of the possibility of a shared cause for the two incidents that needs to be better understood and addressed,” FAA said in its emergency order.
FAA Acting Administrator Dan Elwell, speaking to reporters after the order was released, made it clear that FAA made the decision to ground the aircraft. “The FAA is the safety authority for emergency airworthiness directives and orders,” he said. “FAA made the decision.” </span>
And only the first paragraph shows up as blue:
WordPress post
Blogger postIf each paragraph has the span tag, it shows on them all (which is what most happens as I switch between rich text and code modes in the editor), but if the span crosses paragraphs, it only applies to the first ‘graph.
BTW, thanks muchly, I’ve never seen turn around like this.

In reply to: TinyMCE Editor Is Not WYSIWYGingAs an fyi, I determined that I could fix this by editing the CSS file for the editor.
First, I put the following in functions.php:
add_editor_style('/css/editor-style.css');
Which has the editor read the editor style.css sheet, and then I add this:
blockquote { padding-left: 5px !important; font-size: 13px !important; }

In reply to: TinyMCE Editor Is Not WYSIWYGingThank you for your help, but the entire design philosophy is antithetical to the way that I write, I am offering stupid opinions, not trying to sell stupid tchotchkes, and the code editor mode, where I do a lot of my initial writing, is a not-so-hot mess.
Much like eggplant, it gives me the hives.
I’ll see how I can hack the TinyMCE editor.

In reply to: TinyMCE Editor Is Not WYSIWYGingGutenberg is NOT an option for me.
My blog is text driven, and the block driven editor is antithetical to this.
It’s why I tried, and abandoned, Medium.
