In reply to: [Expound] Integrating woocommerce pluginMy tinkering broke my site so I have had to use a backup version from before I installed the woocommerce plugin. What I would love guidance on is whether it is workable to follow the woocommerce instructions about changing the loop (see link above) with the Expound theme. Thanks again, Marjorie

In reply to: Problems with image gallerySo, I have worked out a solution. The gallery configuration is not exactly the same, but it will do (I hope).
Here’s what I did:
I reduced the size of all the images to between 500 -750 KB. I uploaded them individually (tiresome) and then I followed the advice from this thread which suggested I upload the images to the individual pages in which I wanted to place the gallery. I then went back to the media library to make sure that each image was attached to the appropriate page (if it wasn’t attached to a page it didn’t show up even if the upload was successful).
Interestingly, I found that any edits I made to images were not showing when I inserted them into a page or post. I solved this by editing them offline. I don’t know why the edits didn’t work via the media library.
Hope this is helpful to someone. I found this experience extremely frustrating and I still haven’t had any response from the host support despite being told my query had been escalated in importance ??

In reply to: [Plugin: Confirm User Registration] problem with pluginI hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but this plugin appears to have killed half of my site. Two days ago I lost 20 pages and sub-pages on my site…twice. The first time I was able to retrieve them because my hosting service had a backup but the second time their backup was of the half-eaten site…so I had to go back and manually reconstruct all of these lost pages…very distressing.
At first I didn’t want to believe that it was the plugin which caused this problem (it was a solution to another issue I am experiencing with registration), but I had only installed it the day before and then used it for the first time on the day of the disaster. I have since deleted it from my site and thankfully everything seems OK.
Just wanted to let you know.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Sidebar aligns to bottom in IE, but not FirefoxThanks so much for your response drewactual. I will look into my inline css. To be honest, I am not exactly sure yet what that means, but I am now going off to Google it! While not a total newbie, I am still learning… everytime I think I have it figured and can relax a little, I realise I haven’t and it’s time to take another deep breath and try again ?? Also, I have decided to kill my tables and replace them with graphics…thus eliminating two validation errors! Yay! Thanks again.

In reply to: Sidebar aligns to bottom in IE, but not FirefoxHey drewactual, thanks so much for your response. I went through it but I think it is not going to help me as I am dealing with a number of pages (and not a series of posts) – each of varying lengths, so from what I can see, changing widths and margins will only help individual pages rather than all of them. I checked and I have overflow:hidden already in there. Hmmmm… Here’s my site again should you wish to take a look. Cheers.

In reply to: Sidebar aligns to bottom in IE, but not FirefoxI managed to reduced the number of errors from 66 to 10 on my site (didn’t have a clue about how to remove the last 10 which didn’t seem to relate to anything that actually existed) but I couldn’t sort this problem out. Now, weirdly, I have 29 errors, but the issue has gone away. I am confused, but if it is working…it’s working, so I won’t complain! I would still love to know about why my table looks so weird in IE, but can live with the mystery if need be.

In reply to: Sidebar aligns to bottom in IE, but not FirefoxHi, I am also having issues with the way my site appears in IE and Firefox. Initially, I had missing text in IE on the front page sidebar and main content but managed to fix it by copying and pasting the text into notepad and back again, but now I am have two more problems that I can’t work out how to solve:
1. My sidebar is not aligning with the pages in FF. I tried making the changes to the stylesheet as per above, but it didn’t seem to help. I realise I have a range of errors (as per the validator) but I can’t work out how to fix them (ie. I don’t know where these errors are located – the first ones, at least, are not in my stylesheet).
2. The text in my tables in IE is weirdly large. I tried cutting and pasting in from notepad, but that hasn’t helped. It’s not a big deal, but is a bit odd.
Neither of these issues are deal-breakers but they look rubbish so I would be most grateful for tips on how to address them.
FYI, my site is: https://www.jewishhistoryinonehour.com
Thanks in advance.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: WP Shopping CartHi sphered, this question is going to reveal me as a totally confused newbie, but here goes: can you give me the exact URL that you inserted https://validator.w3.org/ to show these warnings and errors? My brain is so muddled now that I don’t even seem to be able to do this properly. Thanks.

In reply to: WP Shopping CartI have a similar message, but not identical:
After finally managing to get shopping cart to appear on my admin panel it triggered a fatal error message. Somehow I addressed that and now I am getting a new one:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /home2/jewishhi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-shopping-cart/wp-shopping-cart.php on line 94
I am at a loss. Any ideas?
Many thanks.
