Thoughts from a ‘NEWBIE’:
‘signing up’ and ‘…clicking the “My Account” link in the top right when you’re logged in…’ are far from clear and concise in my experience. (Which are the instructions you receive from that link provided by moshu). I installed WP on a server/domain for our website… in that Admin panel there is NOT a “My Account” – however there is a “Howdy {name}” in the top right, and a “Your profile” in the left panel lineup… but of course neither of them provide you with your API key.
I received an email from WP when I installed it on the website – again no API key given. Sorting through some of these forum pages I THOUGHT I made progress in making a FORUM ACCOUNT – but that also did NOT yield any results. I received ANOTHER email from WP pertaining to my forum account – but still nothing re API keys…
The ANSWER:: You must create a WORDPRESS ACCOUNT (which is different than installing it on a website / server – AND – different from creating a Forum Account). You can do that at https://wordpress.com/signup/ …
