  • I am having the very same issue, and it is so frustrating. I like everything else about the plugin, but it is simply unusable. The only way I’ve been able to handle it is to click on the “X” in the URL bar, and then I can’t see half the images to know what I’m doing. No other plugin I’ve used in all these years has ever done this.
No, I cannot try another theme. I just paid to restore my webpage after accidentally changing themes, and when I tried to change back, it did not restore all of my customizations. So not going to do that. But my theme is not from the Twenty series. It is Advocator with a child theme.
Are there any specific plugins that are known to cause this? Because if I can’t resolve it, I’m moving on.

I tried that, Joy. But I’m using a child theme, and that may have been the issue. When I clicked on “Activate” to try to go back to my theme, it didn’t restore the elements and customization I had spent hours and hours building into our web page (and frankly, I wasn’t sure I remembered all of them). So I had to pay to have it restored. I do manual backups, as well, but just didn’t have the time to figure out how to restore it from there, and I had already spent hours on trying to get a gallery plugin to work, with no luck. So I was tired of flailing.
A “are you sure?” warning would be such a simple thing, you’d think ??

    Help?

I found this plug in add-on that seems to work for me: CF7 Redirect.

Found an easy alternative that seems to work: Plug in add-on CF7 Redirect. Seems to work for what I need.

OMG. Esch!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

So what I’m reading in the linked articles is that I will have to edit my PHP files? I’m not even sure what I’m doing. We have several forms, and each redirects to a different page on submit. I’m a nurse trying to run a website for a non-profit, and we rely heavily on CF7. We can’t afford to hire someone to figure this out for us. I can code forms, but not PHP files, and I’m not sure how to edit so that the submit works differently for different forms. I’m totally lost. Please don’t discontinue this simple function. CF7 is otherwise relatively approachable, and flexible, and reliable. I’m not sure what to do.

I second that motion! I’ve tried reviewing your recommendations for using DOM events, and I have no bloody idea WTH to do! Contact Form 7 makes it possible for me to run the website for our volunteer non-profit, and if this function goes away, it’s going to be a serious headache. I can foresee spending hours trying to either figure out how to perform a simple redirect, or looking for a different contact form to use. I’m really distressed about this, because we cannot afford to hire someone to figure this out for us, so it falls on me. The beauty of CF7 is that it is simple and accessible. But I don’t even understand half of what @shorelinechrism posted, let alone trying to tackle stuff like “var wpcf7Elm = document.querySelector( ‘.wpcf7’ );” (Where the hell does that even go?) My eyes are already glazing over. Please don’t discontinue on_sent_ok. PLEASE!

THANK YOU! I had looked at that, but hadn’t seen the options to edit the menu. You pointed me in the right direction!

Ok, I figured it out. It was some HTML coding in one of the side bars (widget). I made a list on the welcome page, and that was enough to throw the whole thing off for every other page. Phew!

Ok, I don’t know what I was doing wrong previously, but here’s what I finally did right:
    1. I created a page called “Request Private Link” which says:
“Use this page to request that your private record link be resent to your Unique Login Email address.”
Then it has the short code [pdb_request_link], which will display the box where the person enters their Unique email.
    2. In Settings, under “Resend Link Settings,” the “Lost Private Link Page” is set to a page I created entitled “Edit your membership information here.”
    3. In Settings, under “Record Form Settings,” I have that same “Edit your membership information here” page selected for “Participant Record Page.”
    4. On that “Edit your membership information here” page, I have placed the short code [pdb_record].

So now I can put a link in the home page side bar saying “Request your personal record link,” which will direct to the “Request Private Link” page, which starts the process.

I have no idea what was not working previously, but it’s working now! Woo hoo! Awesome plug in! We’re up and running with our membership drive, already with over 30 people signed up. I’ll be installing this on my family reunion website, as well! Thanks for your plug in, and awesome support!

OK, thanks. I’ll play with those.

Even if I can’t get it to work the way I’d like it to, it is functional as-is, and the advantages of the plug in outweigh that one consideration. I’ve got my forms set up and my Board is testing them now. Looking good. So much better than coding my own through CDB7, and I’m really looking forward to having a more functional (and user-editable) database!

OK, never mind the second issue. The “Edit your membership information here” page was in the trash for some reason, but was still in the settings. My bad. Still having #1 issue, though.

Yes, it is checked. Although the help text says “Show a link on the signup form allowing users to have their private link emailed to them,” and I don’t want that on the sign up form. But I’ve tried it both ways.

In my particular situation, having the lost link request on the sign up page is proving to be a distraction. So I want to put a link somewhere else, like on the home page, or a separate page.

Also, when I do use the link on the sign up page, and get an email telling me to click to edit my own record, when I click on it I get a “Not found” page with the URL https://www.[mygroup].org/edit-your-membership-information-here/?pid=%5Bprivate code]. (I am not signed in as Admin on the browser I’m using to test this.) The “Participant Record Page” is at default “Post ID” with “3228,” which is not any post or page I’ve created. But when I select something else, it also fails.

So I have two problems: Can’t relocate the lost link request, and can’t get the user edit page to display.

Aaaand, I just answered my own question.

In the “Field Groups” tab, there are two columns, “Public” and “Admin.” I switched the “firm_membershp” field group from “Public” to “Admin,” and it removed it from the “edit your own record” page. I did not try this earlier, because I thought it would also remove the fields from the sign up page, but it does not.
