    Not sure if it really matters, but I was not actually using WordPress version 3.3.1 at the time, but I have upgraded now. (I think the previous installed WP version when I had the issues was 3.0.1.)

    Okay, I have the images showing correctly once again – I checked the folder permissions and set wp-content permissions to 755 recursive. Must have been something in there that went awry?

    Still doesn’t explain how my custom.css had reverted to default, anyway I’ll add my custom edits again and see how it goes…

    Excellent – thanks very much ragzor, that did the trick.

    To make it easy I tried not to edit style.css, I just added those bits of code you suggested to the custom.css:

    #header {
        height: 140px;
        margin: 0 auto;
        padding: 10;
        position: relative;
        width: 1100px;
    }

    #header .phone {
        display: block;
        margin: 30px 20px 0 0;
        position: absolute;
        right: 50px;}

    I knew it should be something simple, thanks again.

    Cheers,

    well, everything seems like it’s back to normal now after the upgrade to 2.0.3. I’ve changed this question to ‘resolved’ – but I would still be curious about why there was that error in the classes.php file – does it get written to? Would running out of disk space stop that file from being able to be written to? Any why would those emails be messed up? If anyone has any ideas…

    Well my disk quota exceeded warning has been fixed, I re-uploaded the classes.php file, and now I can access the front page, but I get a ‘Not Found’ error when I try to go to any of the post permalinks, such as:
    https://www.postpixel.com.au/2006/05/30/firefox-weeeee/

    I also can’t get to any of the WordPress Pages, I get the same ‘Not Found’ error every time?

    I am able to login to the WP admin now, and I saw that there’s a new version, 2.0.3 out that addresses some security issues – could that have been the cause of all this weirdness? Well I’ll upgrade and see if that helps any… ??

    i was wondering the same thing. specifically – where are the files uploaded to?

    i have been using an FTP app to upload all the images i use in my posts – so i have a dedicated directory for all of my ‘blog images’.

    from reading this thread:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/53285?replies=75
    i can see that each picture is uploaded into it’s own, new directory for that post. like this:
    /wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2005/12/filename.jpg

    that would end up being really messy for me.

    also in that thread there is a link to a plugin that allows you to change the upload directory, but WP will still create the year/month sub-folders. ??

    now i really need to know how to hack WP to allow me to upload everything to one specified directory… if anyone knows…

    back to searching the forums…

    after some more searching, i’ve found you can change the default upload location:
    https://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-testers/2005-December/001226.html

    also there is an “old style” plugin to give the upload and thumbnail option of the old WP version. i never even knew the previous version had this option, but i’m giong to give it a look.
    https://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/old-style-upload/

    i just installed this plugin. i tried to add it to a post, and found that it kept putting a space after the first ‘<‘ from the snippet of php you have to add. so it doesn’t work in posts?

    how can i work it so that it will display and work in posts? that would fit my needs perfectly – i don’t really want to have it in the sidebar…

    that’s what i was thinking… really why do you want to limit your reader base?

    but if you’re still keen…

    have you tried installing it using the instructions? are you asking for a plug-in just because you couldn’t get it to install or just that you want an easy installation solution? just wondering.

    just FYI – ‘strong refresh’ in Safari is “shift+click” on the Refresh button.

    ??

    i suppose you could use the database backup plugin (sorry – don’t have the URL handy) to backup your DB, then just delete everything (after you’re SURE you’ve safely got a copy of the DB) then re-install WordPress and start over. then just restore your DB.

    but i’ve never done this… so it could result in more problems…

    just to let you know… the link has a “.” at the end. ??

    the design looks good! although i’m not sure about the grey at the top and bottom of the page… does it really blend in with the color scheme?

    but nice work. and interesting idea for a site – keep up the good work. ??

    thanks for those links – i’ve been looking for something just like that.
    makes for tweak-ease. haha. ??

    well i checked this yesterday (21st September here in Australia) and my site was all back to normal. *phew*

    well i left a comment on the authors blog – but no response yet.

    but it looks to me like the pirate filter automatically takes over on 19th September each year. i guess the only way around it would be to disable the filter. but it’s just a bit of fun… and only for one day…

    EDIT>>
    sry – i didn’t refresh the page before my reply. thanks for the help guys. ??
