    Thanks but that doesn’t answer my question. The only change I made to the admin-functions.php file was to add this after edToolbar()

    if (function_exists(“wp_grins”)) { echo “
    “; wp_grins(); }

    The link you provided talks about <?php ?> codes which this isn’t.

    I know that this is what is causing my problems because when I remove it the problem goes away. I’m just trying to get this to work correctly so that I have the smilies available to click in the writing area of my site.

    Anybody have any other ideas? I can’t get this one to work without somehow messing up my code.

    I made the adjustment like lbessant and jonny recommended and the plugin is now working. However, I’m getting this message in the admin area now

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/mulligan/public_html/wp-admin/admin-functions.php:1044) in /home/mulligan/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 6

    I don’t know enough about php to figure out what is wrong. Can anyone help me?

    Never mind, I figured it out myself. I had it set so that someone leaving a comment had to leave a name and e-mail address. In the Users part of the admin panel I didn’t have a first name. I just gave myself a first name and it works fine now.

    Actually, I do need to logout. It won’t let me leave a comment if I don’t log out.

    I tried that. It doesn’t work.

    By clicking on it in the cpanel and then clicking delete file.

    I have deleted the htaccess file 5 times now. I have downloaded my theme to my computer and deleted it. I have cleared my cache. I have closed my browser and restarted it. I have turned off my computer and restarted it. Basically, I’ve done all that I can think of. Granted, I’m no expert when it comes to this.

    Any ideas?

    I don’t know if that worked or not. Even though I’ve deleted the index.phps file I still get the 403 Forbidden message when I try to go to my blog. I’ve tried reloading, and clearing the cache. Now what!?!?

    I did what you suggested. You can find the copy of the index file here:

    https://www.cantkeepquiet.com/wp-content/themes/mytheme/index.phps

    BTW, doing that has caused a 403 error on my site. Grrrr!

    I will upgrade, but it seems to have fixed itself. I went to Options and clicked on the Spam Karma link. It updated itself and now the comments work fine.

    BTW, when you leave a comment, you get a page with a bunch of messages similar to the other one plus this message

    Fatal error: Cannot use assign-op operators with overloaded objects nor string offsets in /home/mulligan/public_html/wp-content/plugins/spam-karma.php on line 2323

    It’s in the wp-content folder. That shouldn’t have changed, right?

    (@mulligan)

    Well, I’ve changed the file from 1.6a to 1.5. I’ve checked and rechecked the sticky box more times than I care to think about. Nothing seems to be working. I’m going to change the time stamp for the time being. I appreciate the suggestions. Anyone else have any ideas?

    Well, I had downloaded 1.6a. As for the sticky box, I did check it. For some reason, though, when I go back it’s no longer checked.
