In reply to: Need two link boxesHi Katiebates, I am also interested in this topic, with different widgets in mind!
What you will need is 2 available widgets to move into your sidebar. And you will need to categorize your links. Then, you’ll have to specify which category goes into which widget. then you can drag & drop where you need. I would google “blogroll available widgets” and see what you get!
Maybe others will have more to say…

In reply to: wp used as a splogging toolThanks for the replies – honestly, I don’t have that many readers yet, and I haven’t put anything – even copyright – in place. ??
I would love someone else to look after all the nasty leechers, but alas, there is no knight.
I have other things to do, as long as my reputation doesn’t get affected by things like this. I suppose we just keep an eye on things, ping-backs, etc?
thanks again,

In reply to: Multi Column listsHi Garus,
I’m afraid I don’t understand your question. You’d like the Category list, and Archive list in two side-by-side blocks? And what plugin are you referring to by “…for Category and links…”, and what does the plugin do?
A wee bit more info, and I’ll try to help.
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Does anyone know of a theme that would match my website?https://www.headsetoptions.org/2007/03/16/idyllic-new-widget-ready-wordpress-theme-released/
Hi there, I think that this theme would provide a nice background for the portrait work and the Life – unscripted slogan. the pictures, when uploaded to the individual posts, would be the highlight of the blog.
Another option is to look through the various theme viewers (from Google) to find one with similar colours from your first site, and I also think you might like a casual font family, country-style icons, and maybe a side navigation button-style bar.
Good luck!

In reply to: Getting my Blog Menu rightIn the codex, there are parameters you can set for pages.
You need to find teh theme files, which are in your wordpress folder under WP-Contents/themes/eye_candy_10 (or something similar). You can do this through the theme editor from the dashboard/ presentation / theme editor. The files need to be set with the correct permissions.
Then you find the sidebar or menu that you are talking about, find the code pertaining to the page in question, and then include parameters in the code arguments. Which parameters you need, you will find in the codex link above. If it is what I think it is – you will only need an (exclude=”page ID”) type of code.
If you run into questions, post em here!
Good luck,
CathyPS – make copies before you start changing your theme files.

In reply to: New WordPress Theme: Trevilian WayI absolutely LOVE this theme!
I havent seen a theme with this many options – all the widgets on the bottom, the widget on the side, the navigation and meta data call-outs! The excerpts, the header – all of it – amazing. The comment box, and tags already included!
I especially like the navigation, and ease of reading.
I am looking for a CMS, but I want to use pages instead of posts. There MUST be a downside to pages instead of posts, as so many developers are going with designs around the posts – could you give me the reasons why you personally prefer posts?
Love the theme – you can tell that you put a lot of heart and effort into it. Thanks,

best of luck!

In reply to: Displaying Title of Parent and Child PageHi Dtrain, that sounds very similar to the breadcrumb plugin. Except instead of displaying the horizontal ‘this-is-where-you-are’ menu, you want the vertical version. Maybe you could edit the css of the breadcrumb plugin? At least the arguments are there for ya to start with.
Good luck!

In reply to: dynamic sidebar QRoot – I AM starting to feel very over-my-head in this stuff.
Epicalex – that is the folding plugin that i was trying to use. It does exactly what I need. However, to use it – it has to be installed in place of the wp-get-pages command in the sidebar. Thus the trouble! My sidebar’s only command is get-dynamic-sidebar!All is running smoothly now. instead of trying to input arguments in the above code (from widget.php), I replaced the code itself with the plugin code – voila! I’m happy, happy, happy!
THanks for gettin’ back to me.

In reply to: How to change username & password on wp-config.phpWhich URL do you get the request from? – Is it a wordpress request? or your FTP account?
If it’s your new wordpress account, you can click on “lost your password” and follow the instructions.
If it’s your FTP program, it depends which one you have. For cpanel, the password was set by my hosting provider initially, and then when I access it, I can change it at will.
I also use Filezilla as an FTP program. To get into Filezilla does not require a password. But Filezilla logs into my host server to retrieve/send information. To make THAT connection, requires the user & password combo that I received from my host when I first signed up. They can reset that password for you too if you have lost it.
Does that help?
