Yes I’m referring to this section:

The media library import tool is for old or “messy” WordPress installations that have attachments (images, etc., in posts or pages) scattered about the web server or “hot linked” to 3rd party sites instead of properly using the media library.

The tool will scan your posts and pages for the cases above and copy them to your media library, update your posts to use the link addresses and produce a .htaccess file containing the list of of permanent redirects, so search engines can find the files in their new location.

You should back up your database before performing this operation.

I indeed have an old blog dating from 2005 so if it is possible to import almost twenty years of images and get them to load faster I’m interested but I don’t know where the “Media Library Import” tool is. I looked in Tools and Media Library. Is this yet another plugin I need to add. I was running a really lean blog while I was living in China, but now I’m not and I seem to be sinking an ungodly amount of time into this blog of late.

The pulldown as you call it was always set to YAARP 120 * 120 for thumbnails. I do not know where 118 and 500 came from, but it did not work with those numbers there. I set them to zero then it worked like before. Maybe I just had to edit the widget a token time.

As for the media, I think I was considering long skinny thumbnails for better performance when pinned on Pinterest, but I ended up always going with squares because they look better especially on mobile and other social media. I would then include a long skinny image in some posts and pin that. Now I think I’m going full Yoast SEO and I believe he lets you specify which image to share on which social network so you can carefully crop 4+ images. Alas my blog has almost 1000 posts and I do not want to edit them all for search engine optimization purposes, and I don’t want to edit 4000 images.

I wanted it to run quicker so DISQUS and JetPack are out. Already the spammers have found out I am on plain jane WordPress comments again so I will be reading up on styling and fighting spam without using DISQUS/JetPack. I also have to make sure the content I have does look OK in social media so a simple square thumbnail is fine and looks good in your plugin. So thanks again, when I saw her original post I thought she might be having the same problem as me. After all these years, I think less is more for plugins, so Yoast’s mega plugin worries me but I don’t think it loads much except a few metatags on page load.

I upgraded to WordPress 5.0.2 today. And I updated your plugin before reactivating it and I get 120 pixel wide images, but they are stretched supper long. I noticed my length in Media was 9999, but I also use YAARP and it has the correct plugins. All my thumbnails are basically 235 or 236 pixels square in my theme, but then in the sidebar and YAARP I think they 120. I can try regenerating them…

In the widget itself for unknown reasons the YAARP 120 X 120 was selected but then I think it was overridden by the next two boxes to be 118 by 500. I took a screenshot for posterity, but I appear to be good to go, thanks for making this plugin!

I am trying this fix, I just tried to pin a long skinny image I made just for Pinterest to include in my newest post. It said it couldn’t do it because I used a relative URL, it tried to pin the image at https://Pictures/2017/whatever.jpg

Do I have to switch to absolute URLs for Pinterest to work now, that is stupid, I know I have a non-standard WordPress setup, my blog has been online for over a decade, before standards were agreed upon.

I just added the code snippet from Pinterest to my footer.php and I still get this error.

Parameter ‘image_url’ (value http:/Pictures/2017/famousMartialArtist.jpg) is not a valid URL format.

I also am experience this and turned off send data and it sell happens. I swear I already left a comment too:

    <img src="https://yarpp.org/pixels/2f3cd5c3739319dd07d94510f13f9398" alt="YARPP">

It also says “= $0” when I look at the element in Safari. I thought all was well when I first upgraded and it seems to take time for this to appear. I rolled back to an old version but then I realized a lot had changed. I really should backup my plugins too before upgrading.

You have to wait awhile for the busted image to appear and I am coming from behind the Great Firewall using a VPN so that could be a factor.

    My latest blog post

I too noticed this and this fix, I was rolling back to a previous version of the plugin, sometimes updates take out functionality I have two plugins I never upgrade because of this… Now if only I can get two other plugin authors to fix their plugins. I may be pruning the list of plugins I use and adding more code directly into my theme.

I thought turning off send information would fix this but I get a busted image below my shares now, but I swear it wasn’t there the other day when I first upgraded to 4.6.1 and the latest version of the plugin, from Safari

    <img src="https://yarpp.org/pixels/2f3cd5c3739319dd07d94510f13f9398" alt="YARPP">
It also seems to have “= $0” after it.

    Latest blog post

You seem to have to wait for the busted link to appear, maybe it is timing out because I am coming from behind the Great Firewall using a VPN etc.

I discovered this bug just now too, the author should update this, it seems to assume https with no colon…

I was able to delete 999 users at a time, I guess that is good enough, I should have probably looked into this sooner but I had another plugin stopping the emails and registrations but I got hit by some spammers at some points, I never cared about all the useless subscribers, but now I’m cleaning up my database I guess this update, too many people probing one particular file…

    Thanks for your help.

Yeah I thought on creeping up on it, I tried using a date, but maybe I’ll try a hard number like 100 and keep increasing it, honestly their might be a couple real people in the 24,000 but considering I use Disqus for comments and it cuts down on Spam but also seems to cut down on comments as you can’t as easily make a fake throwaway account, these subscribers are all spammers and script kiddies.

Thanks I’ll let you know how it works when I get time to test it more.

Good eye, I’ve had an absolute horrible week, I literally moved out of my apartment to try and get some sleep so debugging this was not a priority.

I have a valid key, but perhaps your documentation should say “public key” as in my try everything phase I tried with the private key there which obviously is a no no as it is passed in the URL string.

It will require a lot of CSS niceties unless I can just use one of your two themes magically but it did fetch finally the last six tracks I listened to.

Thanks for the help and the code.

I always get the 403 forbidden and default covers, maybe my API key is expired or blocked or throttled.

Updating to jQuery 2.2.4 definitely helped a bit, eventually got some

“Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden)”

I’ll work on it after my day job, hopefully I have no code that really needs 1.6.1 I generally use the Google hosted version anyway but due to the Chinese firewall I think I tried to make the switch but somewhere something by someone is hardcoded into using Google’s version, too many libraries running on my website, but I’m way too busy to rebuild it from scratch.

It doesn’t seem to matter what I try I always get an error on the default here:
    ‘.attr(‘src’, _settings.defaultthumb)’

Is it my public or private key that goes here: LASTFM_APIKEY

I have 1.6.1 locally and that did not work, I’ll try to switch to hosted version. I’m in China so I was using a VPN too, but I use jQuery on my homepage, blog etc. so I can definitely work with the VPN…

Thanks for the quick reply I think I can get this to work eventually, just maybe not tonight.
