In reply to: [WP-SpamShield] Version 1.9.6.5 slows things waaay downAll I can say is we were not having a problem with Spam Shiedl before updating, and then I updated, and the site speed crashed.
I ran Gtmetrix & it pointed to WP-SpamShield Anti-Spam as the problem. Removing the plugin solved the problem, but I would like to be able to reinstall the plugin as it searches for registration spam as well as comment spam.
Weird. I added an unshared Twitter account, but did not touch the rest of the settings & I’m the only one who goes back there.
Oh well! It’s working now, so I will keep my eyes on it.
Thanks for your quick responses.
What turned out to have happened yesterday is that all of the shared accounts had become unshared; when I re-added them, they worked (and are still working so far). We do have things set so some accounts are shared & some not–people’s personal Twitter accounts & the site social media accounts.

So far today, it looks like it is posting my posts and no one else’s–and I do have “Make available for everyone” checked, and it was working earlier.
I am confused!
Hm. After working yesterday, it just missed another post today, so I have to take the happiness back, alas! Yesterday, it posted both posts that had been on schedule for a long time and posts published immediately. Today, it missed the scheduled post and caught the publish-at-once post.
After not working for the last couple of days, it is working now. Not sure why, but I’ll take what I can get ??
Also, thanks for the quick reply!
Oh. My fault entirely! I didn’t read the full directions & thus never got to the step where I was asked which page to connect to.
This is the site, by the way, in case that makes any difference.
It turned out that all I had to do was turn the “Manage Auto Inserts” off entirely. The ads still show in the sidebar but not in the posts.
Counter-intuitive as I had assumed that the “auto-insert” was for the site as a whole, but it worked!
Thanks for your time & suggestions, miunosoft.
I have tried doing that. Whatever I do, all the same things end up re-checked–even though I click “save.”
Exactly.
I have Where to Enable set to off & have checked “single posts” and that still leaves me with ads in the post.
Thanks, but that doesn’t answer the question. All I see for positioning is:
Areas
Post / Page Content on Publish
Positions
Above Below BothNo way to say “Neither”
It’s showing fine in the sidebar, and that is where I want it. I’ve tried fiddling with the on/off settings, but have not gotten the results I want.
There is no way that every post on the list Wordfence just spat at me contains links to a malware site. They’re older links & to multiple sites–and the ones I’ve checked are bit.ly links.
However–I’d like confirmation & some idea of what is going on, please.
I also got a bunch of notifications. These are on old posts that have valid links. I doubt very much that every single one of the sites linked to has been compromised.
