In reply to: comment linkPropbably doesn’t help that every link I click on I get the same
“COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA, Copyright Regulations 1969 WARNING” message.Perhaps speak to your server operator about why this page keeps overriding access to your site.
I’m sure this is happening by mistake; if not, talk about over zealous.

In reply to: Can’t Select DatabaseIn the future;
If you think you’ve messed a theme up beyond repair (which you probably haven’t but for arguments sake), then all you need to do is delete that theme and reupload the theme in its original form (unedited). Don’t delete WP files, and even more important, DO NOT delete your database.

In reply to: Site Redesign Part II – Feedback appreciatedVery smooth. Although one thing, the horizontal navigation bar’s text is this light aqua blue on white. I can barely read it. It’s fine once I mouse over it, but otherwise it’s pretty difficult. Perhaps make that text a little darker.
Other than that, pretty good. And you still kept that bizarre gif ?? me likes.

In reply to: error in current post or resent postYou need to install Ultimate Tag Warrior, it’s a plugin.
It allows you to add tags to your post which can be useful for better results and rannkings on things like Technorati. It can also be an easier way for your site visitors to find relevant content.
Those themes obviously require it.
You can download it from https://www.wp-plugins.net
If you don’t want to install the plugin, you can delete those lines of code that call for it’s functions in your theme.

In reply to: Can’t Select DatabaseYou deleted all the files for WordPress because you messed a themes file up?
I don’t think you really had to do that, but because you have you’ll need to re-upload all the files for WP (via FTP for instance).Did you delete your database?
If you didn’t you’re blog will still be all setup, you will just need to edit wp-config.php to point it to the already created database.
If you did delete your database, then follow the steps above, or have a look in the codex:

In reply to: Is WordPress worth it?Ditto on the above comments. I find WP load time to be quick minimal. It varies depending on your server, and your plugins etc.. but still as a general rule WP is pretty good.
I defy someone to find an equal to WP that loads faster with all the features it packs.
On SEO, my site has always had unbelievable ratings. I’ve always thought that WP must somehow be cheating google, it’s been that good. I don’t write much on my blog anymore, but during it’s heyday I’d be in the top 10 for pretty common phrases or words.
Take for example, just searched then and it ranks #3 for ‘nick jones’ in google. (#1 in google australia). I’m pretty happy with that.

In reply to: Redesign – Comments?@lhk:Wow, I stand corrected, didn’t realise there were 1/2mb of images loaded on the front page.
Btw, I don’t think front pages that don’t exceed 20-30kb is old school, I’ve never thought of it like that, I’ve always thought of it as just good design. Granted sometimes a design will call for larger file images, this should still not exceed 100kb. Half a meg is ridiculous.

In reply to: Having a problem with Pages & seperate templates & stlyesheetsCreate a template for what you want your page to look like (PHP file) and put this at the top:
<?php
/*
Template name: PUT THE NAME YOU WANT HERE
*/
?>Upload that .php file into your themes folder.
Then, goto Manage in WP-admin, select the page you want to have that template, click edit, and then in the right menu select from the drop-down list the template you just created. Voila.

In reply to: Content Display ProblemI’m not experiencing this problem on your site. All your content is showing up fine.
Did you fix the problem? If so, what was causing it?

In reply to: Redesign – Comments?Shouldn’t this be in ‘Your WordPress’?
@monkeypup: I like your comments template, very smooth, and very effective.
One thing though, your Indiekarma thingo is fading up over your footer bar. Was that intentional?
Using FF 1.5.0.3
@lhk: 5 minutes! Hmm, maybe try it again, it loaded pretty fast for me, granted I’m on broadband, it loaded almost immediately, I didn’t notice any large nasty files floating around.
