I tried the fixes and none of them worked :'(

I made a new wordpress install and was able to get it working on a different server with all of the plugins and the theme active.

I guess all that is left is maybe doing a reinstall of wordpress, and if that fails I’ll have to ask the host to check things out again. They said everything was fine on their end >_>

I use ssh instead of an ftp, however that probably wouldn’t make a difference right?

They claim it’s some sort of IP attack or something, but I know that isn’t the case.

I just checked back with my host and they said that mod_rewrite was enabled. I’m still having problems getting wordpress to use a different permalink structure. Everything still breaks… any ideas? I’m completely clueless

I have a linux server running apache with mod_rewrite enabled and everything.

I’m pretty sure my server has mod_rewrite enabled and I’m just using the %postname%-%post_id% code from the wordpress codex

I’ll check the mod_rewrite thing again though

we are currently on a dedicated host

and a rough estimate of 5000 users trying to log on at once
just a guess though, could be way off

Ill have to check google analytics later, going on a business trip later tonight

EDIT: also I have currently no caching plugin so far
The template I am using is a custom one, I have a bunch of ads

Our advertisers would go crazy if all of a sudden their ads didnt update when we needed them to. If I installed a caching plugin, would it keep the ads from updating?

Also it seems the rest of the stories after the first xx-small thing just have 1 xx-small tag but thats enough to change it
