I didn’t have access to the database at the time. All I did was install WP in the root directory. I got access to the database because the wp_config needed to be set up. So once the client responded to me I put in the database information into wp_config for the domain (they have several). So I literally did not touch the server/database.

I will try that. I just disabled the plugin if that helps. I will report back with what you suggested.

Also, I reuploaded all of their pictures via FTP into upload directory under wp-content. Not only are they not showing up but when I try to upload a picture it tells me:
“comingsoonlogo.png” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2013/07

I am honestly not sure if you can set this to be a default option, but I would imagine not.

The best way to get what you want IMO is using HTML code. You could just go this like

    <a href="URL HERE" target="new">Link Text</a>

Thank you for your help. I have a child theme set up already but I cannot figure out how to put a style sheet there and not affect the blog as a whole. I googled and found how to display only one category on a page, so that took care of that problem.

I just need to figure out how to change the theme on those category pages. I can use the same theme, I just need to change the header, background, and other graphics to give it the “retro 50s” look she wants. I know how to edit the CSS and all but I am not sure how to get a new CSS file to attach to only that new page.

I created a category-4.php file for the page as your link suggested but I am not sure what to put in it. All I want to do is modify the layout/graphics.

She would also like unique sidebar widgets for each page. Do I need to download a plugin for that?

Sorry to sound so dense. I am an expert at HTML and CSS but the PHP has me scratching my head. I know some Java and C++ which helps, but not enough. I also own Dreamweaver but that doesn’t seem to help much either.

I tried to go to Studio Press but since I am developing her page for her I cannot even log into the tutorials on the page! I messaged and called her, waiting to hear back if she has a login so I can access the support files.
