I have a sort of related problem. I have a user that claims they cannot comment under one handle (The Man) but they can under a different one (Mr Johnson) and they are giving me all kinds of crap about banning them even though I haven’t. I need to try and get to the bottom of this just to get this guy off my back. I have never banned a commenter or user, I don’t even know how. This is the ONLY commenter I have heard this from.

He says that he writes the comment but it doesnt show up on under the post and when he tries to repost the comment, he gets a duplicate comment error.

Is there a place I can look for error messages or something that would show what is going on? I am sorry but I am using version 1.5.2

I know, I feel bad about that….looking for a partner who understands xhtml better than I do to get things under control. There actually used to be more if you can believe it. Okay, that was a mistake, I activated the subscribe me plugin again and content appears to be back. Any more ideas on the comment problem? I just had a user email to say that they cannot comment on three different posts using IE or firefox–some can and some can’t–not too much logic to it. And that single post (above) still will not accept comments from anyone:

Okay, what I did now was delete the post and recreate it so that there was no apostrophe in the title or slug. But still not able to post a comment to this post. I have not added any new plugins for a long time. I have been using Autometa and Askimet, Referrer Bouncer, Subscribe Me, WP Flickr Post bar, and Shortstat for months. I just deactivated Referrer Bouncer, Subscribe Me, and Flickr Post Bar.

Now, I am getting reports from other people about not being able to comment on other posts that already have comments. I clicked on one of the posts they mentioned to test it and got a blank page–no post at all….looks like something big might be wrong with my site that the comments problem was a first symptom of…yikes. Any ideas?

I did not manually edit the slug.

You said delete the “apostrophe” singular, rather than plural. Which one should I delete or should I delete all the apostrophes? Thanks–sorry so dense.

Seriously, how could I and at least one other person be seeing something completely different than you guys? I cleared my cache in Firefox and all the main content still shows in a thin stripe down the left side of the main part of the page. Any ideas?

Okay, BIZARRE! I even had someone call me and tell me they are seeing what I saw.

Otto42: Yes, I know the validator is supposed to be my friend but its how I got into this mess in the first place–working on getting my code validated.

I looked at it in both IE and Firefox and it doesnt appear fine to me at all. All of my post content has been pushed over to a thin area on the left so its virtually unreadable.

If it looks okay to you, perhaps I have a problem I dont even know about!

its appears to be getting hung up on stat.blogads.com….hmmm, something to do with blogads maybe

Thanks for checking….30 seconds to load? Double yikes! Perhaps that’s the problem. I guess I should also figure out what to do about the slow loading….
