Okay the white screen of death is gone and the problem is *mostly* resolved. (I still cannot edit the style sheet on Beauty & Clean theme – if someone would like to help me out with that I’d appreciate it: https://mysayulitadream.com)

Here is what I had to do in case others run in to similar issues.

First I did an XML export in WordPress to save all of the posts, pages, etc.

Then I called GoDaddy technical support (very good by the way).

I deleted all of the current files and restored files to a previous version. Then I deleted the duplicate WP install (I have no idea where it came from).

Tip for godaddy users: the restore function does not work with IE 9. I was just getting the spinning wheel and nothing happened. I had to roll back to IE 8.

Okay that makes sense but I don’t know where to upload my theme because (bear with me I am new to ftp) I noticed something strange in the directories. There seems to be duplicates of the WordPress files. There is a folder called “WordPress” and inside contains the wp-admin, wp-content, wp-themes folders and other wp files.

Also in the main directory (root directory?) there are more folders with the same names – wp-wp-admin, wp-content, wp-themes.

The reason I got in to this mess is that I could not edit a theme my theme – I was getting an error message that said the ‘theme does not exist’. I think this is because the directories are messed up? I tried to move them and this is when my problems started. Any idea what I should do? Does anyone know how it should look and can I simply delete the duplicate folders (which ones?) At this point I’m not actually sure which themes folder that I should upload my theme to.

Can anybody help? It took me forever to find a theme that I like and this one won’t let me edit css. I tried to figure this out on my own and played around with ftp on godaddy but that was confusing and my site disappeard. I can’t get to the bottom of it and it’s making me crazy!

A big THANKS to you, it worked! I haven’t changed the color yet of the header but I know where/how to do it now and the padding info was exactly what I needed. I’ve worked with html but I’m a css newbie. Cheers!

I would be happy with even getting rid of the box altogether if that is an option.

I fixed the sidebar issue. Still would love to be able to get the box around the page titles to lign up. Anybody know what this is called and what the .css might look like?
