I figured it out. I was using two different static pages as the front page/home page. I eliminated one and the content displays fine.

Hi Josiah thanks for the feedback. Setting the home page as the static page in the WP settings -> reading area causes the static Welcome page to not display at all. The theme documentation has the static front page being set in the Customiz’it section of the theme which in turn sets the same in the Settings -> Reading area of WP. Still left scratching my head as to why navigating from page to page and back to the front page causes the featured pages and static page to disappear.

I’m looking to do the same. Having looked at the source code, it looks like the FB social icon is being styled using this class “social-icon icon-facebook”. I believe changing the appearance of the icon is going to involve updating this class in the style.css file.
