The problem became apparent when I updated the Meta Slider plug-in from version 3.20.3. Deactivating or rolling back the plug-in to version 3.20.3 caused the problem to go away.
I have now resolved the issue by updating WordPress to the latest version. I was previously running WordPress 5.6 so you may want to amend your minimum WordPress version requirement.

Thank you for your prompt response. I don’t think it is a flexbox issue as your flexbox page displays properly. However, I do think it may be server related as I installed the same Smart Slider on another website that is hosted by the same provider but on a different host and that displays properly on all my devices. I’ll check for PHP errors and ask the hosting provider about the error log.

My site is at https://www.northbrookac.org.uk. The tables are on the results pages reached from the latest results tab on the Results drop-down.
I have set up a sample page at https://www.northbrookac.org.uk/table-test to demonstrate the behaviour.
I have also set up an identical sample page at https://www.aranha.org.uk/table-test. This is my test site which mirrors most of the live site and which uses an essentially identical style sheet. The test site uses Virtue free version 3.1.6, the live site uses Virtue free version 3.2.8. The differences in behaviour are clear to see.
