As far as I know, the import-mt.php closes all comments on import.

That’s a bummer about the double posting. I didn’t have any trouble. I wonder, if there was something messing with the pattern, you know, of ——– lines between entries?

I didn’t have any troubles with categories either. I wonder what went wrong. Hmpf.

thanks, i see your plugin displays “upcoming” posts, as in drafts that a nearly ready… interesting idea! i installed it and tried it before i realized, heh.

but what i need is to display posts with dates in the future, for a simple events list. sadly, the events plugins available only work with one category. i need two categories.

and i don’t need a calendar view, just a simple list.

nope, you don’t need MT. if you can imagine that you’re just dumping out all the content you need, saving it as a text file, and importing back into the other WP blog.

so, the WPexport plugin, and the import-mt.php just help you manage moving the file from one wordpress blog to another!

i just want to add that using this method worked perfectly, my only problem was i needed to save my japanese text as UTF-8 and it was no prob!

exporting via the WPexport plugin, and import-mt.php brings in all posts, the authors, and comments. no problem!

aha- just want to say, it worked fine with my japanese, as soon as i saved the exported text as UTF-8. (duh)

works perfectly for merging blog posts from twwo diff blogs, without all that horrible database play.

have you tried using the excerpt field in the post editing form?

this does the same as the ‘more’ tag, but does not put in an anchor, nor link to the anchor.

i want to do the same thing, (merge me+my friend’s blogs) but i’m always on the look out for an easy option.

so i tried ‘simply’ exporting with the MTexport plugin, and importing them via import-mt.php.

and IT WORKED. brought in all the posts, the right author, dates, comments, categories, etc.

but but but… it messed up my japanese. i want to find out how to make this will work with Unicode.

I’m not sure if you solved this or not, but I ‘simply’ exported to the moveabletype format, then imported back to the other wordpress blog. my only trouble is that it messed up my japanese writing.

i’m sorry, but have to ask, have you done the normal wipe and reinstall of the plugin? if i could, i’d try installing the plugin on another installation of WP i have on the same system, but you might not have that option.
