@bcworkz thanks for the suggestions. I suppose I can take a backup when this happens again and diagnose on local as well.
All of that makes sense.
I had considered auto-magically saving the permalink settings a few times per day but that’s definitely a bandaid and would impede on diagnosing.
@bcworkz thanks for taking a look.
Unfortunately the issue occurs on all root posts and yeah, oddly enough, saving permalink settings is the solution.
Hmmm, we have a custom theme and don’t auto-upgrade plugins or install new ones often.
Although, 3 weeks prior to noticing the first instance of the issue our hosting company KH upgraded all sites on our server to php 8.1 (unsure of prior version). It’s happened 2x since then so it’s not a 1-off-issue.
Do you think this might have something to do with it?

I can’t seem to recreate it regardless of what I try. And if it does return, I can test going to the permalink settings page without saving.
But uninstalling all plugins and using a default theme isn’t feasible on the live site.
@jamesosborne yeah, I’m just goint to add GA tracking in the head tag and call it a day. I want it all under one property and don’t want to do set it up 50+ times for every subdomain….and potentially every third level domain but that question wasn’t really answered. Thanks!
@jamesosborne Thank you for the response. To be clear, the subdomains populate fine but the third level domains do not show.
1 – I filled out the form.
2 – I’m referring to analytics.google.com
3 – When I go to Settings > Data Streams > and under all, it only shows one property or one Stream ID for the website I put in the form.
Can you clarify the steps to achieve this “This can be done via Site Kit, selecting the option to create a new property and new Web Data Stream per subdomain site.”….and let us know if we’d have to do it every time a new third level domain is created?
Or if we do it for location1.com, it’ll also work for sublocation.location1.com? The goal is to not have to do this more than 1x but luckily there shouldn’t be any other second level domains created, just third level domains.
