  • This is a bit ridiculous guys. Staff of OceanWP, why don’t you fix this issue? Not sure why it’s marked as “solved” since there still hasn’t been a solution offered other than clearing cache which we are doing. Viewing on an incognito tab also reveals no logo change using the customizer logo upload option.

It’s apparent this is and has been an ongoing issue for a long while now. It shouldn’t cost this much time and frustration setting a logo. I’ve created a couple sites using OceanWP and I run into this issue every time. Setting the logo using customizer doesn’t work. It simply doesn’t show the logo. I have to instead use the logo upload option at the bottom of pages.

Having to set the logo manually on every page isn’t optimal since some pages (Woo Commerce, etc) aren’t easily editable because they don’t appear as pages in Wp Admin and therefor don’t have the OceanWP logo setting option. And what happens when we decide to change our logo… we have to go back and edit dozens of pages one by one? That’s not a user friendly approach.

Please fix this apparent bug or create a new option that works and allows the upload of a global logo that works on all pages. Or at least mention to users in your documentation that the customizer approach doesn’t work so people aren’t spending hours tinkering with things and getting frustrated trying to get a simple logo working. I’ve never experienced this problem with any other theme, so I know it’s possible. Thanks.

@verseleo I’m not sure since I don’t have social menu icons in my menu. All I know is that once I set the menu as I mentioned in my initial comment, the “undefined” disappeared. Maybe try it and see if it works. I’d assume the social icons if enabled would still appear if you set them. Sorry I can’t be of more help. I’m not a WordPress specialist, I just know what worked for me.

For anyone who tried all of the mentioned suggestions and still were unable to get the “undefined” word from showing in hamburger menus, try the following:

Go to Customizer > menus > view all locations > and making sure “mobile option” dropdown is showing your main menu. If it shows “-select-” instead, change it to your main menu and it should fix the problem. At least it did for me.

Hello. Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. That is strange… I just now logged in to my admin and the error code was no longer showing. It was showing that a new update was still available, so I did so and it successfully updated. So whatever the issue was has apparently been resolved. Not sure why this happened, as other updates worked yesterday. Anyway, everything appears to be ok. Thanks again for the follow-up.

Hey Nick, I’ve upgraded the PHP to version 5.6 and am still receiving the following error:

WPParse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home1/arcocapi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/wpGoogleMaps.php on line 602

I’ve created a new ticket since I’ve noticed re-opening old tickets don’t get prompt responses. I figure I’d re-open this ticket since the recommended solution has not worked. I’ve tried all 3 different variations of php 5.6 and all 3 php 7.0 options on Bluehost. The plugin still won’t activate due to the above error.

I commented a few weeks ago (see above) mentioning the map plugin crashing a website. You mention that updating PHP to something higher than 5.3 would fix the problem, and recommended 5.6 specifically. Well, I just checked and the PHP version is 5.6.32. Yet I’m still experiencing problems. I continue to receive the same following error: Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home1/arcocapi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/wpGoogleMaps.php on line 539

This sucks because the client requires the use of this particular maps plugin due to the way it functioned. Any other ideas? I find it very odd that plugins don’t have a way to let users know if/when they crash a website. Who knows how long the site was down before I became aware. If there are security concerns, then why not just auto disable the plugin, not crash the entire site.

I’m having the same exact problem. The plugin caused my site to crash. Had to call the hosting company because I wasn’t even able to access the wp-admin. They found the plugin at fault was this Google Maps plugin. The site now functions minus the plugin activated. When I try to activate, it provides the following message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home1/arcocapi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-maps/wpGoogleMaps.php on line 2184

The site was functioning fine before the recent automatic WordPress update. Currently the site is up and running, but minus the map plugin. Since I’m unable to even activate the plugin, I don’t even know how I can troubleshoot it. In place of the Map on the home page, it instead reads the following: [wpgmza id=”1″]

A prompt response would be appreciated, so I can get this working again. My client won’t be happy to know their site has been down and now unable to show their map. I’d really like to avoid using a different plugin since this was the only one that fit their needs and aesthetic requirements. Thank you.

Hey dschafer28… thanks for the suggestion, I really appreciate that. Not sure why I didn’t think of that, but it makes sense. I’ll give it a try. Thanks again!

Ah, thank you very much for the answer. I had read about the import/export being used for switching seo plugins, but wasn’t sure about my situation. Thanks again for the reply.

I’m only familiar with creating posts directly through the wordpress system, which automatically creates and categorizes the necessary files directly to your server site folder. Why did you create your site on your local machine and then try uploading? Sorry I’m not any help, I just don’t understand the workflow and wanted to make sure you did.

Len, thank you so much. I think where I was having trouble is I was going in the wrong sql option in my cpanel. Hostgator has a couple of options. Thanks again for you time. Have a great day.

Esmi, thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying but I don’t think that is entirely true. I was able to get my page titles showing as I wanted with my last wordpress site.

Yeah, i can’t have the same slug for my blog category of the same name of my portfolio category. Very annoying. WordPress adds a “-2” to the duplicate. Why won’t wordpress fix this?

Yeah, it’s a problem with my wordpress theme. The author is supposedly fixing the problem. I had to disable “Platinum SEO” and install “All in One SEO”. Fixed the problem, but I liked Platinum SEO better.
