Hema Latha, I can’t seem to find where to delete the page title from the page. In my “about” page, I go to the “html” tab and don’t see a title anywhere. Any tips?

Well, I don’t want to get rid of the page title, I just don’t want it displaying IN my page. For example, home pages and portfolio pages don’t have titles at the top of them; yet my about me, contact, and other pages do. I’m not doubting your answer, I just wanted to clarify. Thanks for your response.

Is there any way to do this? You can see what I’m talking about if you visit my website designbuddyDOTcom. See how the “About me” page has “about” at the top of the page box? Yet when you visit the portfolio page, it doesn’t say “portfolio” at the top.

Inspired2Write: yes, same host, and I don’t believe any settings have changed. It has something to do with the “wordpress loop” according to that link I posted above. I just don’t know how to make the changes that they recommend. Oh well.

Thanks for responding. I may not have been specific enough. I used the plugin before with other wordpress sites where it worked fine. It’s only my current site it is causing issues with.

Thanks for the replies. So does anyone know of a fix to allow the “Platinum SEO” plugin to stay in use and fix the site title problem? I would much rather use the plugin if possible.

If anyone can help me, I can return the favor in graphic design services.

Inspired2Write, very kind of you to offer such an explanatory answer for me. It does appear that the plugin “Platinum SEO” is causing my title problem. Maybe it has something to do with wordpress “loop” as mentioned on the last FAQ on this link:

Now I don’t know if I should keep the plugin disabled for good or not. I have been using it since I began my blog. If I turn it off, I loose all the SEO goodies it allows me to ad to every blog post. And if I leave it on, my home page shows wrong. If I knew more about code I would manually control all of my SEO.

Thanks so much for the replies. I will see what I can do with the mentioned methods. Intimez, it appears that plugin hasn’t been updated in a long time but there is another similar plugin available. Some people are claiming the plugin causes errors so I may pass on it to be safe.

Thanks Jessn. I can do that I guess. I guess I’m looking for a short step by step since I have no clue how to do that. This is what I would do, can someone tell me if I’m wrong:

1) Buy a new domain name to act as the site name for my new site build.

2) Create a new directory in my main folder to act as my new site build folder.

3) Install wordpress in the new directory and install the new theme.

4) Work on site until finished, including adding posts from original site to the new one.

5) Once new site is completed, backup the old site using a backup plugin.

6) Delete all files from original site folder and copy/paste all of the new files from the new file build folder over to the original.

Concerns:

1) How do I fix all my broken permalinks?

2) Is there anything else I should worry about?

3) Can I simply delete all contents of a folder and just copy and paste like I mentioned above?

Wow, thank you so much Michael. Seriously…you saved me a lot of stress and your explanation seems simple enough.

Because there were too many modifications and settings changed with the original site. I’ve tried that method before of just swapping themes, and ran into problems right from the get go.

And besides, I would still have to redirect all of my old pages anyway since I did change my site name.

I thought this wouldn’t work for what I was wanting, but maybe it will. Thanks for the repsonses

Thanks for the reply blondishnet. Yes, I do have that set as the permalink structures. I’ve read a bit about htaccess modification but due to my lack of coding know how I get nervous making edits I’m not familiar with.
