Brilliant I think everything is working now!

I went into dashboard and changed both addresses to the properdomain.com

changed the permalinks to the names

the only thing that wasn’t working was the ‘home’ button in the menu. But when I went into the menu options and expanded that button, I found it had the sub.domain.com address as its url, so I changed that to the domain.com, and now that, and as far as I can tell everything else has the proper address displayed! many many thanks again!! you’ve been amazing!

    hi,

when I type in the domain.com (which is an addon domain) it stays there and everything looks fine. But… when I start clicking around on the pages of my site, for example click the ‘home’ then it reverts to subdirectory.mymainaccountdomain.com

sorry if I am not very good at explaining this.. it’s a steep learning curve lol

I know what my problem is (I think).

on previous blogs, I have assigned a domain name to the sub directory and then installed wordpress. both these fields then had the proper domain name in them, and this domain name displays in the address bar so everything looks sleek.

on this occasion I had installed wordpress using the sub.domain.com address first. Then I assigned an addon on domain to it. So, the address bar shows the amateur looking sub.domain.com address.

Is there anyway to fix this or am I stuck?

sorry for bothering you with all these questions (last I promise!)
    many thanks

nope it didn’t work, but thankfully I used the fix ??

I’ll setting both the fields to the addon domain name to see if that works.

Jeez! I can’t thank you guys enough lol! fixed!!!

now, before I ‘drop another klanger’ as they say….

Is it ok to change the ‘site’ url here from the sub.domain.com name to the domain name I have assigned to it? (obviously I wont be touching the installed url again lol).

    thanks again people!! ??
