I don’t know if this has been resolved, but I believe my problem is similar.
While testing comments on one of my sites, I received an email that indicated:
“You recently signed up to follow this blog’s posts. This means once you confirm below, you will receive each new post by email.
To activate, click Confirm Follow. If you believe this is an error, ignore this message and nothing more will happen.
Blog Name: ITWinnipeg
Blog URL: https://www.computerandtechstuff.com/itwinnipeg “
The blog URL in the message along with any other links on the email result in errors ranging from untrusted domain certificate to a 404 error. However the worst part of it would be confusion in the minds of potential clients.
The WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) in General settings both appear to be correctly configured to reflect https://www.itWinnipeg.com and have been set as such pretty much since installation.
It’s a brand new page on a relatively site that hasn’t allowed commenting previously.
Fortunately this page is still in test mode, but I would appreciate thoughts and advice so we can move ahead.
