In reply to: [footnotes] Reference container heading: translations and a collapse feature@pewgeuges, thank you very much for the simpler solution for polylang problem, it works nice. I don’t use tooltip truncation, so I (for now) don’t need the second patch — but thanks a lot anyway.
Will all these changes be included in the next footnotes release?

In reply to: [footnotes] Reference container heading: translations and a collapse featureHi @pewgeuges,
this solution works perfectly. Of course, I’ll be glad if this non-compatibility with Polylang will get fixed in the future (if I can somehow help in reporting it to them, please let me know). But the main thing is that I now have fully functional and great footnote content.
Thank you very much for your responsiveness!

In reply to: [footnotes] Reference container heading: translations and a collapse featureHi @pewgeuges,
thank you for a detailed answer!
1. Polylang offers to translate
footnote_inputfield_references_label
, but for some reason the translation is not shown if I switch the language. Instead, the string from footnote plugin settings (Reference Container -> Heading) is shown. If I understand correctly,\[\[name\]\]
from this line
https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/footnotes/tags/2.7.3/templates/public/reference-container.html?rev=2521062#L43
is a variable that should be translated. I don’t think I have enough knowledge to check it, so I would be grateful if you take a look. Otherwise, Polylang works as expected. I am sorry I can’t provide a link, since I work on a non-published site at the moment.2. Thank you for the pointers, now I understand the default behaviour. (And yes, the cursor shape was part of the problem.) Also thanks for the solution, it works great.
I’ll try to explain my reasons for disabling the collapse feature. It’s not that I dislike it — I understand that it’s very useful in a number of contexts. But in my case, I’m creating a site that contains academic texts, where footnotes are sometimes more important than text itself, so that they have to be expanded by default.
The site design dictates that the reference header is very close to the first footnote. So, I clicked on the [1] in the text and the plugin scrolls me down to the first footnote. I read it and I want to go back to the text. The upper arrow is very small (the footnote font size is even smaller than the text itself) and very close to the reference header. On a mobile device, in ~50% of cases I miss the arrow and accidentally tap the reference header. So instead of being scrolled up to the text, I see my references disappear. Since they should never disappear, I thought it might be better to disable the collapse feature at all.
The second reason, which arises from the first one, is that sometimes I deal with texts with 50 or 100 references. Accidental collapsing of this much contents simply doesn’t look nice and can confuse a reader.
Once again, thank you for a great piece of software, you made a life of people publishing academic texts in WP a lot happier. ??

In reply to: [Watu Quiz] How to avoid long answers going below checkbox/radio-botton?… update: the problem was a space after ‘calc’. Without that space, new max-width is respected, and the problem is solved. Thank you!

In reply to: [Watu Quiz] How to avoid long answers going below checkbox/radio-botton?It appears that it works as intended if font size is above certain point, no matter in what units (>=16px or >=11.9pt work).
If font is smaller than that, the suggested code doesn’t have any effect — take a look at the linked page, with (100% – 50px).

In reply to: [Watu Quiz] How to avoid long answers going below checkbox/radio-botton?I changed just weight of the font.

The first answer is longer than container, and it went below radio-button.
