In reply to: Flashy but useless "distraction free editor"@bret.miller
Hopefully, you can get to it eventually, because I think a LOT of people would like that! And, I have to admit, even though I haven’t used the feature before this version, I think I might be one of the ones who would like it.
I did ask(beg) the author of Fullscreen for WP Super Edit to update that plugin for the latest version, but I haven’t heard back, so I wouldn’t hold out hope. If I were better with PHP, I’d take a crack at it, but, honestly, I stink as a programmer!Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Flashy but useless "distraction free editor"Okay, there may be a plugin already that will do what you want. Check out Fullscreen for WP Super Edit. It may mean installing a couple plugins, but it also may fix your problem.
Hope that helps someone!

In reply to: Flashy but useless "distraction free editor"Wow, you obviously love the old system quite passionately.
Honestly, I was never aware of the old Full Screen Editor at all, or I might have used it. Never even knew that it existed at all.
On the other hand, I really do like the new distraction free editor for composing text. Sure, I have to go back to the regular editor to add tags and other SEO related necessities, but I don’t mind. For some writers, not having all the distracting buttons and switches that we don’t use while writing actual text is quite nice and, as someone pointed out, a trend in design and UI.
Again, maybe the feature you love will come back if you get involved and convince people it should. No, it’s not fair that you should have to do that, but, sometimes that’s what it takes when we’re passionate about something.
Or, perhaps, someone will code up a plugin to do what you would like to do. Have you ever written a plugin? Maybe you could give it a try! I’d support you and help test it, if you’d like. (And, that goes for anyone else who’d like to write such a plugin, too, BTW.)
You might try asking Andrew Oz, since he wrote a similar plugin to use TinyMCE on WordPress.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Need a specific theme!!It might help if you let people know what you were willing to pay per hour to get a theme customized for you.
Or, have you tried contacting either WooThemes or ThemeForest to see what their rates are to customize one that comes close?

In reply to: Photographer websiteHa! I know the feeling! Well, I liked the work and I hope you manage to find the time, eventually.
Thanks for sharing!Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Photographer websiteI like it. It reminds me of the default ads for PhotoShelter. Not quite the same, but similar feel, in my mind.
Any thought to releasing this as a theme?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: What is the essential php knowledge for wordpress?I’d suggest checking out the WordPress docs here:

and here:
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Working_with_WordPress#Site_DevelopmentAnd, when a problem comes up, just trying to use Google to find the answer. The only way I’ve ever learned anything worth knowing is with a goal or project in mind. Trying to just learn everything one might need to know about *any* programming language is so overwhelming that it seems impossible to me. But, solving a problem, or one problem at a time, feels more like something manageable.
Not a straight answer, really, but I hope it helps some.

Seriously, thanks for helping me find this. I want to test the functionality before I roll it live anywhere, even after the beta.

In reply to: iPhone App articles do not appear on my siteI think you can just change the status to “Published” and then save it. Not sure, but I sure haven’t seen any kind of delay publishing that seemed significant to me.
(And, I apologize for taking so long to respond, but I’ve been busy the last month or so.)

In reply to: WordPress and Photographer friendly hosting?Yeah, I’m always a little leary of those claims, too. Someone made a claim of unlimited bandwidth, and virtually unlimited storage, in another thread I was in not long ago regarding photo galleries and I sort of wondered about it.
For other reasons, I’ve been considering a virtual server option, too. A Small Orange looked like they had some good prices there, too.
Hopefully, we’ll see some more suggestions. Thanks!

In reply to: iPhone App articles do not appear on my siteIs the time on your web server the same as the time on your iPhone? If the iPhone is fast, or your web server is slow or in a different time zone, this might happen.

In reply to: Future postingIf you did the install through the admin window, and I’m assuming you meant your webhost’s control panel admin window, then I’d contact the webhost and ask them to upgrade it for you. Again, make sure to back up your installation first!
Good luck!
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Future postingIt sounds like you’re not correctly overwriting an existing file. Did your webhost do the initial install for you? If so, have them do the upgrade, too. Otherwise, you’re going to have to take drastic measures.
If you can’t get your webhost to help, you can try these steps. Please, note, you are taking your chances here so make sure to backup EVERYTHING first.
First, make a backup of your current, live WordPress installation. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP!
Two, after making the backup, remove everything but the entire wp-content folder and the wp-config.php file.
Three, upload all the new files.Good luck!
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Future postingYou might want to double-check your upload of the new version and make sure all the new files went up and replaced the old ones. I had the issue and it was corrected after I upgraded to 2.9.1 Is it still giving the same error? Missed Schedule, I think is what mine said. Do you have any scheduling plugins that you might need to turn off or update?
