Thank you Mr Norris and MacManX.
So, if OpenID is on it’s way out, what is the best option to use when commenting on other websites that will link back to my website?

Many sites support an option to just enter email and website URL, but there are just as many who do not–principally Blogger.

    Some clarification:
Those of us wanting to use OpenID to comment on other sites, want our comments to link back to our website–not FB, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.

If there is another option than OpenID, would appreciate suggestions.

Also, after I commented about an OpenID URL, that is not working either as comments now appear as ‘Anonymous’
Have contacted https://pip.verisignlabs.com/ but no response.

    @macmanx
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/oa-social-login/ is only for your own website; it allows visitors to login and comment on your site.
From what I can tell, it does not provide OpenID access on other websites where you want to comment.

Am assuming the post from WPyogi is meant for me as my post is deleted, altho Tehews is referenced.

Find these forums so laden with Rules that it is impossible to learn the Game. Hence there is never any useful help provided as responders seem to take more pleasure in correcting/deleting posts, than in providing any useful help.

FYI: Links included in the deleted post were for illustration only as thought it would be helpful for Techews.

You need an OpenID URL. I used Symantec Corps https://pip.verisignlabs.com/
The OpenID URL links to your website.

Once you register (free), you will get a URL that is entered into WordPress Settings OpenID URL Delegation

I use the OpenID Delegation Plugin https://github.com/rodrigoprimo/wordpress-openid-delegation

    Hope this helps

    Nada! No responses.
Have given up on using Open ID

I just noticed that image links to posts that were uploaded from wordpress.com to self-hosted site (www.ads-software.com) have lost image link with 4.0 upgrade.
They have changed from ‘Media File’ link to ‘Custom URL’ link.
I manually updated back to Media File link and is now fine but will be a tiresome process to edit all old posts dating back 3 years.
Maybe someone knows a way to update all at once?????

    Under Image Details>Display Settings>Link to:
The Link To had changed from Media Files (all my images are in Medial File) to Custom URL

As a blogger, would like to comment on other blogs with a link back to my website. Apparently, OpenID is the best way to do this, but can’t get it to work–‘unable to verify credentials’, error. (have MyOpenID plugin installed)
It must be a problem as see lots of complaints but no answers and/or solutions.
Have been all over Google, LinkedIn WordPress Experts, www.ads-software.com support, OpenID website, and there is absolutely nothing regarding inability to use OpenID (‘unable to verify credentials’ error).
Would appreciate it if someone would just tell me there is no solution, then I can move on. ??
