In reply to: Blogs fail to post as scheduledSince failure to post was sporadic, and the time I had it scheduled was the middle of the night my time, and it only occurred within the past year when I had activated Site Health, it seems to me pretty clear that’s the problem. Also, since it is sporadic I’m not sure if turning off all plugins and doing your check would help much as it is too iffy of a problem. I’m hoping that by getting my time zone correct to match my reality, and thus my 8 AM will be 4 or 5 hours later than the UTC time automatically set previously, I will avoid the conflict. That I’m willing to ‘wait and see.’ Thanks for your advice, tho’,

In reply to: Blogs fail to post as scheduledWell, if he/she was ‘spam’ they had good ideas!
Do you have any suggestions as to avoiding “Missed Schedule” for my posts? I’m sure that Site Health checkup is interrupting, but I can find no way to contact anyone who created Site Health plugin to see when automatic checkups are scheduled. Can you help?
This has been marked as “Resolved” but it isn’t. Apparently, no one knows how to deal with this. I got no resolution of the question posted above. And I included a reference to it in a later issue I had with Site Health checkup interfering with scheduled posts and got the same answer: contact Host. So I’ll yell at Hostgator!

In reply to: Blogs fail to post as scheduledThanks. I had no idea that was there. =-)
Have emailed reply from “sayanrb” with answers to all three questions I had but it doesn’t show up in this section (although 3 paticipants are noted.) Any idea what’s up there?
I deleted Super Cache, as Optimize seemed to do more stuff. And it has cache enabled. I cannot get my Host to seem to understand about “Persistent object cache.” Now, the Site Health Check up states that my site supports APCu, which is neither of the ones you mentioned. I’m inclined to forget it. BUT now the Site Health Checkup says there is no page cache. (See below for exactly what it says) What the heck is going on?
Page cache is not detected but the server response time is OKPerformance
Page cache enhances the speed and performance of your site by saving and serving static pages instead of calling for a page every time a user visits.
Page cache is detected by looking for an active page cache plugin as well as making three requests to the homepage and looking for one or more of the following HTTP client caching response headers:
cache-control
,expires
,age
,last-modified
,etag
,x-cache-enabled
,x-cache-disabled
,x-srcache-store-status
,x-srcache-fetch-status.
- Median server response time was 249 milliseconds. This is less than the recommended 600 milliseconds threshold.
- No client caching response headers were detected.
- A page cache plugin was not detected.
Thanks. I went to WP-Optimizer and it has cache enabled. Plus an automatic optimization monthly. I like things I don’t have to remember to do! However, it pointed out that I also have WP Super Cache plugin and warned that two cache activities might lead to “unexpected results.” So I went to Super Cache settings and there is a big box stating “Re-write rules must be updated.” As best I can make out, this affects how things are cached for mobile device users. I downloaded both of these plugins along with Jetpack at someone’s suggestion, but since deleted Jetpack as it ate up memory and I never used it anyway.
So: do I attempt SuperCache solutions (one of which seems simple enough although the others, with coding, I’m very reluctant to get into) or delete the plugin as unnecessary and stick with Optimizer?
Thanks. That was helpful. Looks like I really need to play with taxopress and see what it does with what I’ve limped along with myself. May make life a little easier, or maybe I can even tighten things up in ways I’ve not been willing to do previously, for fear of upsetting the apple cart as it were.
Thanks again.

In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementFYI anyone who has a similar issue and follows this to its bitter end:
Healthcheck didn’t help with the issue of mobile view.
Never got an answer from anyone on seeing mobile view from WordPress dashboard.
Turned out that tablet sees the page the same as my PC and laptop. Image problem is only on smartphones. I’ve decided it isn’t worth the hassle to change.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementEven in “Customize” I do not see any means of looking at the Mobile Users view.
In Troubleshoot mode, it shows themes that are available. Choose one, and you then have to return to Appearance, at which point just the chosen theme is shown. Buttons along the bottom show Customize, Widgets, Menu, Header, background. Choosing ‘customize’ takes you to a view of the website but nothing there has any indication of Mobile view.
It states right on the Health Check Troubleshoot dialogue box that the only one who sees changes is me, not visitors. So it won’t do me any good to get out a tablet and go visit the site, as the mobile view will still be goofy and undetered by troubleshooting.
What am I missing?
If I have to turn off the site, and then enable plugins one at a time, whilst I use a tablet to see the changes, I’ll do that. Especially if someone can tell me how to make a temporary front page that says “This site is under construction. Come back later.” But sure would rather not!

In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementI’m hopeless…I installed Health Check. I did the Health Check and most issues have to do with the fact that my php needs updating. But everyone says to change the theme first and then update the php, so that’s on hold. My issue is with what Mobile users see, but I do not know how to see the Mobile View of my site from my dashboard. It’s probably something obvious, but I don’t know what it is. I’ve read the www.ads-software.com page on Troubleshooting using the Health Check, but it didn’t help.
Can you help there?

In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementOH, in case it matters, the problem with the mobile view is not just in ‘live preview.’ The current website, with my current theme, is responsive but mobile device users see that goofy image. That’s how I found out about it.
But I appreciate your assistance and will check out the “Health Check” plugin soonest.

In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementThe light dawns! I understand what you are saying and will check it out. I have found two themes that I think will do the trick, so I’m good there. They also show the mobile view as goofy, so I’m more that willing to try out Health check and see what’s up.
Many thanks,

In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementI download the “Health Check” plugin and then run it, turning off the plugins I’ve installed one at a time, yes? How will I know something is monkeying just with the Mobile Mode? And will it give me a lot of CSS coding? If so, I’m a fish out of water.
Not really anxious to experiment without some understanding, as several reviews said it screwed up their sites. =-)

In reply to: Changing theme widget & page placementOK. Your answer to #1 make sense to me. Means more searching and taking a chance on picking a theme that will in the future be unsupported and create the same sorts of difficulties I’m having with php. Oh, well….
#2. I’ll just have to check out the urls of the pages. Doable and re-linkable, if necessary.
#3. On my current theme, and on the ‘live preview’ of both twentytwenty and twentyseventeen, the mobile theme shows this undesired picture. Do I understand that there is a plugin affecting this? If so, how do I know which one?
