Hi Jordy – my guess is that you are doing a partial match and working on the first thing found. – see my report.

Go back to Yoast 6.3.1 – that one works.
No version 7 works, even 7.9.1 fails – it shows a blank page, even on a new installation.
I’m amazed this has not been found and fixed yet.

    1. Install Yoast SEO
    2. Set Search Appearance -> Taxonomies -> Remove Category URLs
    3. Save

Go to https://domain.com/uncategorized (or any category with posts)

    This gives a blank page

I even tried saving permalinks, but it didn’t help.

Do the above with Yoast 6.3.1 and it works.

Yes, this is exactly what I reported several days ago. If you use Firefox or chrome and you turn on the Inspector and you selct the Network tab and refresh the page, you will see this. Initially, it looks OK, but as soon as you click into the post editor, the next ajax call fails in a 500 error and then any work you do cannot be saved, because none of the buttons work.

I had the same – went back to v6 and it was fast again – and v7 breaks ajax calls too, preventing saving posts.

I also see pagination showing up as duplicate titles now.
I changed back to v6 on two of my sites, because v7 breaks ajax in the post editor.

Thank you Jordy. Yes, I can try that.

FYI, here is something in my current database:
I am ignoring the tables that show 404 errors.

The image was renamed from before-rename to AFTER_RENAME
You will see the 100×70 does not get renamed in the database, but it does on disk.

My guess is that LinkedIn sees this User Agent as fake:

    compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/5.0

    Hello Mike.
    It often does this.
Run Regenerate Thumbnails – that will fix it.

    Alan.

Sorry, I’ve been away Jordy. I will set up a clean install and come back to you.

Thank you. I tried that and it seemed to work, but I was checking on today and this is what I found when I ran a reoptimize:

    sddefault-1-560×420.jpg – Reduced by 1.8% (468.0 B)

The theme sizing for the 560×420 is 0x420
but I have no idea how the 640×385 was generated.
So it seems Jordy’s MediaFile Renamer is looking at the database to see which images it should resize, but that can leave things behind.

So I uploaded a file called sddefault9.jpg and renamed it to test-rename.jpg and they all changed!
So right now, I can’t explain why those other ones were not renamed.
If I work it out, I will let you know.

    Jordy,
I see the same problem. It has been like this for months, but I just didn’t have time to investigate it.
The problem shows up when you have Featured images.
One of my writers uploads a file with a poorly-chosen name and I use Media File Renamer to change it. Then we select the image as the featured image and in the editor, it looks OK. Unfortunately, when it is published the image is broken, and the name of the broken image is the original filename.

Thank you for finding that Jonathan, saved me the trouble of exporting 50,000 database rows.

The only way to fix those bad images is the long way – export the image, rename it externally, re-import and re-add.

I hope you can correct this problem soon, Jordy. We love this PRO plugin!
