In reply to: Membership site with protected forumSorry, my bad explanation. It wasn’t to do with the WP dashboard but with WP menus:
The Membership plugin I tested allowed me to drag an existing WP menu into a field for ‘users’ and one for say ‘ gold members’. You can then check which menu items are visible for each level.
It worked really well – when logged in the menu items specified for gold users appeared so I could have a list of the premium content. Not sure if this plugin works in the same way?

In reply to: Membership site with protected forumthanks for the reply – I checked it out and it looks like the pro version is the one that will handle subscriptions with a payment gateway.
On the membership plugin I tested it allowed you to specify which menu items were visible so these only appeared when logged in – does the Restrict Content do the same?

In reply to: 1&1 UK hosting issues with WordPress – site running slowThat response was from a level 2 support person – I’ll monitor it over the next few days. Things have a habit of being sorted out with them when you post a message on their Facebook page.

In reply to: 1&1 UK hosting issues with WordPress – site running slowThanks for posting. There is an index.php and the installation is identical to a number of others I have (i.e. same host, on 3.5.1 using Pagelines) and they are all fine.
It’s just the comment didn’t make a whole lot of sense and seemed like a simple brush-off

In reply to: 1&1 UK hosting issues with WordPress – site running slowDoes anyone know what this might be when the support guy is saying there is no index?:
When I pull this via wget it works just fine but resolves an error as there is no index detected it seems?
I’m getting the same error on sites built with Pagelines 2.6.1 and WP 3.5.1. However, it doesn’t appear to impact the functionality.

In reply to: [Widget Logic Visual] Widget Logic Visual not working with 3.5Thanks to iwdspiderwoman this fix worked fine for me as well – I did switch to using Widgets Controller on a few sites when I found out this stopped working (and I sort of prefer the overview compared to Widget Logic Visual).
functions.php worked beautifully, my nervousness was unfounded.
ThanksI saw that but also other posts about updating it via the wp_options table. Would you recommend the functions.php route?

In reply to: Menu title only with drop down to other pagesThanks for the fast posting, that did it!

In reply to: A straightforward WP siteIt’s designed using PlatformPro which is a template from pagelines. The slideshow is an integral part of the template.

In reply to: A straightforward WP siteThanks for the comments, I will experiment with a lighter font colour to increase the contrast. I also did the photography for the site and used the nextgen gallery plugin which seems to be the most popular and offers a good degree of control. Good thing with WP is that it’s so fast to develop with (and I’m not a developer), this site took a max of two days and that includes all the photoshop work.

In reply to: Custom Contact Forms – changing the date format to UKHi Mr Pritchett
I found the custom-contact-forms-dashboard.php file in the widgets folder and changed the format to d/m/y as suggested but it didn’t make any difference to how the date actually formats in the field after selecting a date- it is still m/d/y!! Am I missing a step here? Thanks
I was having the same issue but then changed the value in the the top menu ‘ Enable/disable Facebook’s new comment system’ to just ‘new’.
