    Hi Jose,

    I have this same problem. Few weeks ago, I messed up with my database and all my blogs disappeared leaving only the main blog. I have finally restored my blogs from an old Backup. I updated my plugins including “Network Latest Post” to the latest version, I updated my wordpress multisite to the latest version 3.4.2, but “Network Latest Post” is still not displaying anything at all both short code and widget.

    I have also followed the instructions you gave above. An SQL query returned a table listing all my 5 blogs, all showing “public = 1”, my wp-config.php file looks OK except for

    define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true);

    and my .htaccess file looks OK too.

    I noticed something strange, when constructing the short code from the edit page pop-up window, the options “Display Blog(s)” and “Ignore Blog(s)” doesn’t list out my Blog IDs (Note:I have 5 Blogs), it gives only the defaults i.e “Display All” and “Nothing to Ignore”. The same case with the widget setting. It seems as if the plugin NLP is not dictating my blogs on the network.

    Any ideas will help.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Hel.io, It worked perfectly when I used folder ID instead of folder name.

    Thanks very much for the great plugin.

    I also have this problem and I have posted a thread without noticing that someone else had the same problem.

    Thanks for any input.

    Hi Jose;

    You Got It!!! Everything is perfect now. I was using css_style=quickinside_nlposts.css instead of css_style=quickinside_nlposts and out of frustration I had transferred the quickinside_nlposts.css file from wp-content/themes/ifeaturepro to wp-content/themes/ifeaturepro/css but after you pointed this out, I did the necessary changes as you mentioned above and very thing came into place perfectly.

    CSS is something that every serious webmaster on a limited budget should know at least the basics. It transforms things like magic. I am going to give some time to it, to master at least the basics.

    Thanks again for all the time you put in helping me out, it is PRICELESS to me. I pray there be other people out there like you who will sacrifice their precious time to help others.

    Thank you very much, I appreciate.

    Hi Jose;

    I have done as you said above, I uploaded the quickinside_nlposts.css file to my active theme folder but only the padding(spacing) changed, the background still remains transparent and I now have 2 bullet points on each post both on the page and the widget.

    I have spent some time trying to figure it out using the “inspect element” tool on my Firefox but I can’t get very far(still a novice).

    If you could share some more light, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jose;

    I disabled all my plugins(about 8 of them which were active) and it did not solve the problem, then I followed the instructions on your next post by commenting out:

    $text = preg_replace("/[\x{00a0}\x{200b}]+/u", " ", $text);

    in my /wp-includes/shortcodes.php and now everything works just fine. It is truly an EC2 issue with WordPress 3.4.1

    Thanks a Million Times.

    PS:
    Just one more little push: I am a complete novice when it come to CSS and all I need now is to control the spacing between the thumbnail and the rest of the text and to give a white background to the widget so as to match my theme’s normal widgets. It will be a big push for me if you could give me a basic code structure that I can start with and modify to meet my test.

    Thanks once more.

    Hi Jose;

    Thanks for the quick reply. I have seen your demo site with the IFeature theme, I works just fine but it can’t still work for me. I switched my theme to the free version but it still didn’t help.

    I also noticed that on your test page, the comment box was active, making it possible for commenting, but on mine, the comment box is not active, could this be a problem with plugins conflicts. I have tried disabling some but still no luck.

    Also to add, I host my website on Amazon Ec2 Linux server and I just updated my server today but still no changes.

    I hope this helps to give you more insides on whats going on.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jose;

    Just to add, I just tested the widget and it worked well, Titles, Thumbnails, Excerpts and Pagination all worked well, all I will have to do is to customize the css. But it doesn’t still work on the page level.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jose;

    You plugin is great and I know it is what I have been looking for. But I have a similar problem to what is discussed here. I just installed the plugin today and I can’t get thumbnails, excerpts and pagination. All I get is just a list of article titles. This might be a bug from the latest version because I see nobody seems to have this problem and you just updated the plugin 6 days ago.

    These are the parameters I used:

    [nlposts title="Network Latest Post" instance=MainBlog title_only=false blog_id=1,2 thumbnail=true thumbnail_class=alignleft paginate=true posts_per_page=10 excerpt_length=55 auto_excerpt=true sort_by_date=true sorting_limit=20 full_meta=true thumbnail_wh=150x150]

    Just to add, all the posts in my other blogs have excerpts, but the plugin couldn’t pull them so I used auto_excerpt=true and it still couldn’t pull them.
    Again I use the IFeature premium theme but again I tried with 3 different Themes but still no thumbnail, excerpts and pagination.

    If I am doing something wrong please help!!!

    Thanks.

    Hi ShayPetrone,
    When next you want to install a plugin or make significant changes, first backup your database(most important). This article would help explain some backup steps “Backing Up Your WordPress“. Secondly coping the files in your hosting account through ftp is a good practice especially the .htaccess and wp_config.php files but if an already installed plugin goes wrong or causes problems, all you need to do is to delete or rename only that plugin that is causing the problem from the plugins folder through ftp and everything will be fine. You don’t need to delete the entire site files.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi Raufaser;

    I have accessed my database through phpmyadmin and I discovered that the “blog-id” in wp-options table for all the different Blogs has been set to 0.
    i.e:
    wp_1_option, blog_id = 0
    wp_2_option, blog_id = 0
    wp_3_option, blog_id = 0
    wp_4_option, blog_id = 0
    wp_5_option, blog_id = 0 … and so on.

    So how do I get to edit these entries per Blog at one go. You know there are thousands of wp_options entries per Blog and editing them one by one will be just impossible. Can you give me some sql code or query that I can use on each wp_option table to change the “blog_id” value from 0 to the correct values like 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. I believe I can do the editing using phpmyadmin all I will need is some code or query and some guidelines if there are any.

    Thanks for your support.

    Thanks Raufaser,

    At least I fell a bit relieved from your quick respond.

    Yes WPMU do have more than one options table in the database, they are named with something like this: wp_1_options, wp_2_options, wp_3_options and so on. I noticed this when I was backing up the first database.

    So if I find this “active_plugins” option, what do I do? Do I delete it? And if Yes, do I delete the “active_plugin” option from all the wp_option tables belonging to all the other Blogs?

    Thanks once more.

    Hi Raufaser,

    I should start by appreciating your work, it gives non experinced guys like us access into complicated areas.

    I have a problem with my entire website. I am using WordPress Mu 2.7.1 and I installed the WP-Options-Manager Plugin to clean up deprecated Plugin options from my data base. It worked well when I started using it in one of my WPMU Blogs but later I noticed that there was this warning message displaying at the bottom of my blog.

    Warning: file_put_contents(/home/content/n/j/c/njcqi150209/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-options-manager/../../uploads/.wpom.dat) [function.file-put-contents]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/n/j/c/njcqi150209/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-options-manager/wp_options_manager.php on line 839

    I could not understand exactly what it was all about but then I thought activating the Plugin on the WPMU Main Blog could solve the problem so I did just that and then came the catastrophe.

    On the WPMU main blog, I noticed that the Plugin was not functioning well so I went back to the Blog I first installed the Plugin to check-out its behavior but unfortunately I had a NO PAGE FOUND screen. Both the front-end and the back-end of all of my other Blogs display a NO PAGE FOUND screen as well but the WPMU Main Blog is not affected.

    I tried uninstalling the Plugin and removing it entirely from my WordPress Plugins directory but to no avail, the damage had already been done. I guess its now a more serious database problem and I really don’t know where to start from. I have no experience on dealing with database which is why I went for a Plugin to do the job.

    I am in a fixed now, since I had only made backup just for the first Blog I started from and now I risk losing my entire site because the other Blogs don’t have up to date backups.

    Please can any one point me to the right direction?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    NB: This might be a potential Bug for WPMU. So I suggest you include in the Plugin’s description a warning to WPMU users.
