Well, it’s gone all wonky again. It comes and goes. The tech support for the server insists that index.php is empty but if you look at the file in the file manager, it’s not.

I turned the error reporting on. everything is working. no errors. very strange indeed.

OK That was totally weird.

It was only that subdirectory that was in weirdness.

It seems to be back now…I think…

Maybe it was just the NSA doing a random sweep.

OK This is my issue. Yesterday everything was fine. Now all blank pages and no errors. View source shows nothing. Viewing the files online, everything seems in place.

I can not get to the admin page because it is also blank. I made no changes yesterday that I recall.

I have another WP on the same server which seems fine. It is a slightly older version of WP but that shouldn’t make that big a difference.

What turned out to be the problem here?

Oh, yeah, that fixed it. Of course, it wasn’t “wrongly” nested so it didn’t occur to me that was the problem. ??

I’m not really sure because it seems “busy” to me, but I kind of feel that way about 3 column themes.

I will say this that the graphic at the top that is continuously changing and the graphic in the middle behind everything are *very* distracting. I found it difficult to focus on anything else.

Um. I’m not sure I understand your question. If your blog is in your root directory, then nothing is in the subdirectory so you should get a 404 messages when you access it.

I’ve been doing random plugin searches for days…I keep finding and installing new plugins so it hasn’t been all bad. ??

Nothing? Nothing similar I can maybe modify? Some sort of challenge tracker?

Another thing to keep in mind, if a company is overselling, it probably means that their customer service and their customers are going to suffer if not now then soon. That’s what happened to me at Lunarpages and why I left them. They oversold and then over-resricted my use. Then they tried to bully me into paying more for services I really didn’t need to make up for the fact that they had tried to put too many customers on too few servers. I had been with them for ages and had been more than pleased with them from the beginning but it was clear in the last 6 months or so that they had gotten too big for their own good. They were stretched too thin in customer support and they were cranky about it and it showed.

So they were losing customers, including me.

Just something to keep in mind. Just because a company has been around, doesn’t mean that they are secure or will stay that way.
