Thanks for your reply. This is a piece of information I did not know, i.e. the gallery is a plugin because WordPress does not provide a gallery? The gallery on my WordPress website is NEWGEN Gallery. I still think the question remains regardless of which gallery is used, i.e. in the WordPress website there is a gallery from whatever source and the products is part of WordPress. What is the purpose of each and how do they interrelate?

I live in Houston, Tx and last week found a Houston WP MeetUp group and attended their meeting. Met lots of good people and helpful networking. This group will be a signficiant part to my progress in WP.

Good question and thanks for your reply. Since around November ’12 I have been on the WP learning curve and though I have made progress, a lot is still very foggy. A web designer set up my WP philcollinsstudio.com in November with the understanding that I would then “learn” WP and manage the site, manage the content. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on and watching a lot of videos. Little by little the pieces are coming together.
So to answer your question, I would say yes (is this right?) WP has been installed. I can go to the website and log in to admin and get to the Dashboard.
I am currently watching a video which is very good and clear. It started from the very first step and I follow along on my website/dashboard. I am trying to get to the place where I can manage all the content on my website, images and blog. As I said, I have made progress but still lots of questions such as when adding an image, how to determine exactly where it is to go on a page or blog. Or if I want to add a text box on a page, how to place it in a specific spot. These are only examples of number of questions I have. As I go through the video, some of the questions have been clarified or answered.
I thought about starting from scratch on another site in order to learn
“hands on” but decided I needed to learn my website.
Another challenge is the designer added WooCommerce and WooThemes plug-ins. I have learned that a person can know WP but if they have WooCommerce and WooThemes, it is very different. So in addition to learning WP, I am learning WooCommerce and WooThemes. What is difficult is WooCommerce only provides support to the person who purchased the WooTheme which is the designer for my website. Even though I am the user, I can’t get support from WooCommerce. I have to direct my questions to the web designer and host of my website.
    Thanks again for your help.

I should have given all this info in one post – looks like I am stringing it out-not really. Only thinking about it when I get a reply.

WordPress is not on my pc. I have checked Control Panel and it is not there. The way I get to the Dashboard is go online to https://www.philcollinsstudio.com/admin and sign in.

Should I have WP on my pc?

    Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the link-it looks exactly what I needed.

Here is bit more information which I did not put in my first post in order to not make my post too confusing. Last fall I paid a WordPress designer to set up a website for me. The agreement was that he would set up the website in WP and then I would “manage” the site afterwords. The “manage” part is what I need to learn and reason for my post.

Using Getting started with WP, can I set up another separate WP blog/website for learning purposes? Can I do this without effecting the website already set up?

    Thanks again.

Okay. Since my theme is from WooThemes, then I need to direct my question to WooThemes or WooCommerce, is this right?
