Thank you Bill. I will check about the backup plugins. I am also aware of creating a Child theme template.
With regards keeping a post in Draft form, this works well if it is a new post as I see I have options to save it as such. As for the template, the GoDaddy managed version of WP doesn’t seem to have the same capabilities.
