Thank you!!!!! Thank you both. I ended up using WPyogi’s suggestion and am so grateful.

I have done this and nothing shows up – not even a blank box in the sidebar widget.

I have it in the sidebar positioned above “Translate this page” here:

    https://dothewill.com

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks

Ditto – I am SO frustrated. I just need something to simply show a jpg from the media library on entrance to the site.

What I get is a giant gray box. There is little to no instruction on how to use this – can someone please help? Or point us to some thing that works???

Thanks for your response Seacoast and trying to assist me. Unfortunately as I mentioned at first I have looked in these files and can’t for the life of me see anywhere that this copy is in HTML.

The folders inside the /wp-content/themes/susangala/ are:

    CSS
    Font
    Function
    Images
    Include
    JS
    Languages
    Plugins

I just don’t see anywhere the Home Page language is in any of these. Very frustrating.

I was just hoping that there was something else I didn’t know where to look.

I’ll see if she can go back to the original web designer as I know she spent a bit on this and would flip at the idea of now creating a new theme. Seems a shame for something as minor as correcting a couple of words and spacing issues.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Seacoast:

This is what I was assuming as well – but I just don’t know where to find this housed. Under Appearance>Themes it lists as active “susangala theme” but the image shown in the thumbnail is the twentyten page. I have looked at the ftp files on the server and while there is a folder for susangala theme, I still find nothing in the wp-content or any of the other files that seem to house this Home page text & photos.

I have also looked in Appearance>Editor hoping maybe it was in there, but still no.

When someone created a highly customized theme where is this generally located? It has to be “somewhere” in the wp-content file folders or ????

LOL! Once I know where to look I can make the minor copy changes. I will also back-up as I do understand that even what seems a minor copy change in code can cause catastrophe.

Can you suggest where or what file area this might be found???

    THANK YOU!

    [No bumping, thank you.]

Thanks Seacoast but I knew to do that in WP and had looked there to make changes as a usual WP home page – which is why I am mystified.

The Admin Dashboard>Settings>Reading> is set as Front Page Displays> your latest posts

When you check all posts, there are NO POSTS.

The usual choice of a Static Page is not chosen.

In Pages>All Pages> there is no Home page or any page listed that contains any of this text.

I was hoping maybe someone here can take a look at the code on the home page and can tell where this might be hidden, cuz I’m totally stumped!

The site & homepage is: https://www.susangala.com

    Thanks!!!

GeoffHoff – unless I’m misunderstanding you, this is exactly what I was originally posting about – this is what is happening to me. If this current upgrade of SEO is active, none of the pulldowns work or any screen options, including help.

For example, “Tags” – I cannot open that to choose frequently used tags, but I also cannot just manually type in tags and have them save or do anything. Until Joost fixes this we have no choice but to deactivate or to try and de-install the upgrade and re-install the last version that worked 1.2.5 as Miz.Michele has just mentioned.

[ Please do not bump, that’s not permitted here. ]

Thanks Fred – I agree! I’m just keeping SEO disabled for now and giving Joost a week or so to work out whatever the bugs are. He’s never had a problem I’m aware of before, so I also trust that he’s doing his best to fix everything and it will all work out.

I just wondered if one could undo an upgrade, if it was something simple, but I don’t want to do anything that will cause a ton of headaches.

    I’ll just be patient!

    Thank you!!!

Is there a way to go back and use the older version of SEO? I don’t know how to undo the upgrade once we’ve done one. If anyone knows how that would be great as the last version (before yesterday) worked swell!

    Thanks!

Thanks boatgalley – this is what I’m suspecting. I may have to bite the bullet and go ahead and upgrade and pray that works!

    Thanks!!!

Just a thought – Is the issue that I’m in WP 3.2.1?

I have not upgraded as I just didn’t want to have to fuss with a bunch of possible functionality issues with plugins and everything on my WP site has been working just fine without the upgrade until the SEO 1.2.6 upgrade yesterday.

Please can someone fix or respond? I know I’m not the only one having this issue and I’d certainly love to have my SEO with Yoast back! If you’re working on fixing this giant bug, please let us know!

    LOL!!!

    Thanks so much!!!!

    (@noproblems)

I don’t understand what you mean – you went to Settings & resaved Permalinks and that resolved your issue?

I just tried that and NOTHING works.

There was a new update to SEO by Yoast today (just this minute) – I hopefully applied it and reactivated the plugin and again NONE of the WP functions work: I cannot open Categories, Post Tags, Help – NOTHING. I cannot manually add tags, etc. NOTHING.

It was working just fine thru yesterday until I updated the plugin. When I completely disable the plugin, everything works fine again.

There is obviously a conflict in the new update that is causing this. Please can SEO Yoast fix this?

    Thanks!!!!

    Geez…

    1. Two of them have been up for 8 months, another for 2.

    2. Even if they don’t have “substantial traffic” I thought that whois tracked all sites. I’ve had other sites (not WP) that we could see stats fairly soon after starting up – even if the rankings were 500,000,000th….

    3. How can I know the ranking if I can’t see any ranking? LOL!

    4. Just because you may consider them “useless” doesn’t mean everyone else does. I didn’t know Whois is tracking only what they consider “useful.”

Takeback has tons of useful info and people commenting. Dothewill is Bible scripture – useful to millions of people.

I’m thinking I must have something turned on or off in my settings that doesn’t allow it to be “seen” by Whois.

How does any blog or site start up and be found? I know many people who have small blogs posting their thought for the week and they are ranked in whois. They aren’t marketing anything….

    Any helpful suggestions out there?
