In reply to: Targeting a Specific Page for all PostsThanks for your response dkotter. I tried that as I thought it would logically do what you are saying – but what it did was make my static front page info also appear on the page I’m designating for posts. I want to have the static page just show the static page content and have the Members page be where the posts go…

In reply to: How to show a post's daily content in sidebar widget?Hey! We’re getting there!!!!!
The excerpt appears, but it now also shows what looks like a huge area where it thinks a thumbnail should be.
If we can get rid of that and the “readmore…” line of copy we’re golden!!!!
Do I dare ask why just adding 2 slashes made this magically appear? I would have never been able to figure this out on my own! You truly are so kind to help me!

In reply to: How to show a post's daily content in sidebar widget? You are SO kind to try and help me.
I thought for certain this one would work: ZK Advanced Feature Post
Its menu actually shows all my existing categories for me to choose from, allows me to choose “excerpt”, how many to show, etc. But when I save it still shows nothing and I just don’t get it!

In reply to: How to show a post's daily content in sidebar widget?I’m sorry to be so dense, but if you mean the Admin in the plugin, and I create something new also called “Confession of the Day”, it has a window (like a post window) for content to be added (typed). I don’t see anywhere that this will pull from my existing “Confession of the Day” posts. It looks like I’m creating all new content.
If I try and make this now become where I’m actually posting the daily content, then aren’t I losing the archive process and I’ll have a ton of “Confession of the Day”s that all have the same title?
Or am I having to also update this area every day with new content? if so then doesn’t that defeat the purpose?
Thank you so much for trying to help an apparently clueless newbie!

In reply to: How to show a post's daily content in sidebar widget?I just added it and (as with all the others) it does not display anything other than the title I’m typing in. There seems to be no support at its site (the last response there was in Feb) and no instructions on how to do this.
Here’s a screen shot of how I have it set up in the widget area and the page you are on, you can see in the sidebar only the title showing.
Thanks so much for your help! This is driving me crazy! LOL!

In reply to: How to show a post's daily content in sidebar widget?I’m sorry, from what I’m seeing this plugin does, it doesn’t display the content of a post in a sidebar. It displays LINKS and/or photos. If someone clicks on a link, it will either open a modal window on top of your screen, or it will take you to the post page.
I have a category called “Confession of the Day” which changes daily and that is what I’d like to feature in the sidebar. I’d like people to be able to see it fully displayed (the text), not just see the link to it.
I see sites all the time that seem to have excerpts of text from posts but I can’t seem to find how or what people are using to do this. The search of Plugins pulls up over 1,000 choices but all seem to mostly have to do with sliding photos.
I’m not sure if I’m just using the wrong terminology to search. LOL!
I’m open to any and all suggestions, presuming that it will turn out to be something really simple and I’m just not seeing it!
Thanks!!!!

In reply to: Edit Button Disappeared Even Tho' I'm Logged InNevermind! Now that I have some posts I can see that the “edit” button disappears when you are looking at the complete loop of posts on your home page.
For those with this same issue reading this, if you click on the heading of a specific post, it will take you to that post and then you will see the “edit” button appear. ??

In reply to: Can I have pages that each have their own different blogs?I thought about a Static front page but then I’d still be back with the same question on the “other” pages of trying to make a blog style rolling with topics specific to those pages.
I’m thinking I should just go for the category in the tabs idea and not fret about who sees what in a roll somewhere.
I was actually considering if it would work to have a static front page and then just “hide” the actual rolling blog page with only the categories as choices visible.
Honestly I think I’m over thinking this too much and should just start the blog and see how it goes….driving myself crazy with too much pre-planning up front rather than just jumping in! LOL!
Thank you so much!

In reply to: Can I have pages that each have their own different blogs?Learning…. will I be sorry I asked – LOL!!!

In reply to: Can I have pages that each have their own different blogs? Thanks Esmi.
Just asking here – is there another method? I just would prefer to not have a long unrelated roll of topics that will seem odd to people who are coming to my site for totally different purposes or interests.
I was thinking I could just “hide” the page with the actual long blog and then just show the pages individually and the categories via the tabs & side bar choices.
My over all preference would be to have “Recipes” and then a blog of rolling daily recipes, “Confessions” and then a blog of rolling daily confessions, etc.
Is that possible?
Thanks so much!

In reply to: How to make Home Page not appear in Page list Widget in Sidebar?I solved the problem – but this had NOTHING to do with Suffusion and is a function (somewhat hidden) in WordPress.
For those who need to resolve this same issue:
Go to your “Pages” and mouse over the page you don’t want to show up in this sidebar list. When your mouse is hovering look down on the very bottom of your webpage at your status bar and look at the ID number that will show at the end of the URL string.
That is the number of that page. Remember it.
Now do to “Widgets” and open up the “Pages” widget and you will see an area that says “Exclude” in that box put that page number. If you have more than one page, list them like: 67,21,11
Save and these pages will stop appearing in your sidebar widget!
