In reply to: front page shows “login” link, even though I am already logged inNailed it. It seems, for reasons passing understanding, Safari is objecting to having a weblog on a different path to the WP install directory. Mozilla and IE don’t seem to mind, but Safari’s not having it. Can anyone confirm this?

In reply to: front page shows “login” link, even though I am already logged inActually, to reply to my own reply, I’ve just tested a separate new install of WP and Safari *does* show me as logged in. Which is weird, because the one that’s giving me this minor problem was also a clean install. I’m confused and my brain hurts…

In reply to: front page shows “login” link, even though I am already logged inI’m having a similar problem to dDave, except all seems well in Firefox and IE (individual entry pages show “you are logged in as…” above the comment entry field, the ‘e’ appears next to posted comments) but Safari refuses to play. I’ve cleared the cache, deleted cookies, logged in again, yet Safari still shows the 3 fields for entering name, e-mail and website address in comments, and the ‘e’ does not appear next to comments already posted. I can only assume that, in my instance, WP does something that Safari doesn’t like, or vice versa.

In reply to: Show total number of comments on front page? That’s what I figured, philpeeps, but I couldn’t find it amongst the template tags. MtDewVirus’s comment-count is doing the trick now, though.

In reply to: Show total number of comments on front page? Thanks podz – I found the plug-in you suggested at https://wp-plugins.org/ and it’s working perfectly. I was just secretly hoping it could be done without plug-ins ??

In reply to: suspicious spam/not-spamI’ve had one or two instances of this – my theory was that it was a comment approval workaround. Approve one benign comment from an author/IP and then that opens the gates for that author to flood the site with spam.

In reply to: A few points that bug meI have to say, I’m in the process of trying to transfer over my Movable Type site to WordPress using a recent 1.5 nightly, and the archive pages being broken up into sections is (apart from waiting for a 1.5 release) the one thing that’s preventing me from switching. To me, displaying an entire month or category archive on 1 page should be the default, with an option to split the page up by number of posts or days available in admin or through tags. IMHO, the current admin setting for this should affect only the front page, as per (IIRC) the current stable release.
