Having discussed this with a colleague who works in infrastructure, it seems reasonably certain that the fault lies with my webhost despite their first response claiming they have changed nothing. It is most likely that they have upgraded/updated their intrusion protection service and that it has blocked external services trying to connect with my blog. I am working with them now to try to get this resolved, fingers crossed they can do so quickly!

In reply to: Can't post to blog using Windows Live Writer2ninerniner2 – Thanks for the suggestion, but I get the same error when I try to add a new account in live writer as well.
Tara – I tried with the standard 2013 theme and the error remains. I have also noticed that since disabling my plugins, Jetpack is now disconnected. When I try to connect, I get this error:
Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible
Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site https://nottinghamknitter.co.uk/blog [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed Empty reply from server]It seems like these errors are likely both rooted in the same cause, but unfortunately I don’t know enough to suggest what that might be. Any further advice would be much appreciated!

In reply to: Can't post to blog using Windows Live WriterHi Tara,
Thank you for your reply. My .htaccess has nothing but WordPress calls in it at the moment, I tried disabling all plugins as you suggested but the problem remained.
Does anyone have any other suggestions, please?
Do you have trackbacks enabled? If so, this can cause the problem you are seeing. Spammers they will post a spam-filled post on their own site and include a link to your blog post within their post. This will ping a trackback because it seems as if someone has been blogging about your post.
I got so much spam in this way that I have had to completely disable trackbacks.
Uncheck this – Settings > Discussion > Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
That will apply to all future posts. To disable this for an existing post, edit the post and under the Discussion section, uncheck “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page” If you can’t see that section, click Screen Options at the top of the edit page and check the Discussion section.
Hope that helps!
OK, I’ve disconnected and reconnected Jetpack and the compatibility plugin is installed, results on their way to you by email now.
Thanks again, I hope there is something useful in there!
Hi Richard,
Sorry I didn’t provide an explicit link to the blog itself, you can find it here: https://www.nottinghamknitter.co.uk
The problem continues to persist and I still see “nothing to report” in my Dashboard as per the screenshot above.
