I contacted my host and my theme’s support to double check before I update WP manually: I have Avada and I have the following message appearing when patching my Avada theme: “The ThemeFusion patches server could not be reached. Please contact your host to unblock the “https://updates.theme-fusion.com/” domain.” I hope it’s only a matter of my theme not being fully updated.

Otherwise: my Excel file is a xls one. Same issue happened with a zip file…

I installed that plugin but I still can’t add my excel file…
And I still can’t update my WordPress version. I don’t know what else to try.

I updated my theme and everything now works, with the exception of WordPress update! I did what you said (disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes) but that still does nothing. And that’s really an issue because I need to update a .xls file and I can’t as it seems to be an issue from my WordPress version…

I’m going to contact Avada’s programmers as I’m unable to update the theme and I’ll keep in touch.

I tried, via phpMyAdmin, to deactivate all plugins (including woocommerce) pasting the text “a:0:{}” in the “active plugin” option name.
As it didn’t work I pasted the original text in the active plugin, but for some reason “a:0:{}” is still there and I do not have the original text anymore.
So now no plugin works on my website and I have no idea how to active them again.

And I really need Woocommerce to be working to access my dashboard!

I can connect with my wordpress username and password, but when I try to access the dashboard it tries to open the page for a long time period but nothing happens.

After a long while the screen goes blank with the following message:
“Error 503 Service Unavailable
Service Unavailable
Varnish cache server”

It’s bizarre, it seems to work with the test website you gave me.

I am a css newbie, so I’m not sure what to do with that custom css.
I hided the text in the woocommerce CSS, but I still have the small ticking square visible. But I hide it in the style.css of my website it will hide every ticking squares.
