  • Hi Sa,
I had this problem when I first used Nextgen gallery. I just started a new WP site and have spent the past two days trying to upload photos. The work-around that I used last time and which I am using again (after trying all of the things that you did) may be more complicated than what you want to do:

    1) I create a new gallery with the Nextgen plugin (ex. mygalleryname)

    2) I use an FTP client (FileZilla in my case) to upload the pictures into the /wp-content/gallery/mygalleryname

    3) Go back to WP and the Nextgen plugin. Find the gallery I created and to which I uploaded my pics and choose “Scan folder for new images”. It will then create thumbnails etc.

I recall from last year that once I got used to this process, it was actually pretty simple, allowed easy bulk uploading to the galleries, and still allowed me to take advantage of Nextgen’s other features.

    Hope this helps.

Joosd pointed me in the right direction though there was no problem with the access rights. Here’s what worked for me:

Create new empty gallery with NextGen plugin
Use FTP client to upload to the new gallery found under wp-content/gallery
Back in the WordPress Dashboard, go to “Manage Galleries”, choose the gallery in question and hit the button “Scan Folder for new images”

I’m sure there is a more elegant solution, so that the FTP client is unnecessary, but this works.
