NEVER MIND. Turns out the theme’s styles.css file was specifying a font size for those widgets. When I removed it, it defaulted to the Global Default setting in the Styles plugin.

PS I’ll read the README again and see if I can figure it out. The first time I read all the documentation was before I had this idea.

I mentioned in my original post that I’d thought of doing that, but it’s too involved for me. I’m afraid if I tried it myself, I’d just break it. I’d be willing to give it a whirl if you pointed me in the right direction though. ?? I’m always up for a challenge!

I’m still REALLY hoping for a way to do this. For example, when looking at my home page, my most recent blog post says “35 comments” but that is UNTRUE. The post has nine comments (native + facebook + twitter) and the other 26 are simply facebook likes. I like having the likes show up on the page, but I don’t want them calculated into the total number of comments on the post. Surely there is some way to change this?

To clarify, in case the question isn’t clear to the developers… when using Social on a multi-author site, the authors have the option to broadcast to the fan page owner’s personal facebook page. It would be ideal if this could be disabled.

I use Social on several sites and LOVE it. I recently installed it on the site for a non-profit organization with about 6 people who write and publish posts. I have Social set up to broadcast to the fan page for the non-profit by default and to not broadcast to my personal page. However, a post this morning was broadcast to my personal page, because the post author went into the per-post broadcast options and checked every available check box.

I posted a similar question three months ago regarding the calculation the number of replies… I like having the “likes” show up, but I would prefer that they not be counted as comments on my blog.

No. The post has to be broadcast by Social for it to aggregate social comments back to the site. (I tested that a few days ago myself.)

Fantastic! Did you upload the new development version? If so, I’d be happy to install it and test it.

PS I know I’m off-topic for this thread now, but I wanted to make one more note about the development version. I had to deactivate it after all. When I checked the site on my tablet, my site was broken (nothing but a PHP error). I tried checking the “hide from tablet” option in the prefs, but it still broke the site.

By the way, the more I look at it, I don’t mind the full excerpt being shown. My excerpts are a little too long on some posts, so I just need to make them shorter and it’s all good. It still might be good to provide an option though. Something like:

– If excerpt exists, limit number of words to ___ (use 0 for no limit).

– If no excerpt exists, limit number of words to ___.

Hello. I was having the same problem as adamdport. upPrev works fine with “random entry,” but shows the same 1 post on every post when using YARPP. I’m using WordPress 3.5 with Thesis 1.8.5. YARPP 4.0.3 and upPrev 3.3.12. The site is jennaandsnickers.com.

I just downloaded the development version of upPrev and the problems with YARPP are resolved.

I ran into a few issues with the development version though that I thought I would mention.

• The box only appears in Chrome. It doesn’t seem to be working in IE.
• The custom css changes I enter don’t seem to be working.
• When there is an excerpt for the suggested post, it shows the ENTIRE excerpt instead of respecting the word limit. The word limit only seems to apply when there is no defined excerpt.
• The side and bottom margin aren’t changing when I change the setting. The box is floating on the page instead of appearing snuggly in the corner and I can’t fix it.

I’m going to keep the development version installed for now. Can’t wait to try the next update when it’s finished. This looks like it is on it’s way to being a great plugin!

Never mind… I just did some testing and answered my own question. I used Social to broadcast the post to facebook and comments on THAT fb post were brought into WP fine. And, interestingly, the share link was there! So, I will use social to broadcast my next post and see if everything works as expected. ??

Alex, this isn’t working as expected for me, although it’s possible that I’m not understanding it properly.

For example, I posted a comment on my post and I ticked the box to share on facebook. Several people replied to that comment on facebook. Should those replies not get pulled back and displayed on the blog?

Edited to add additional information: The original post was NOT broadcast to fb via the Social plugin due to the lack of the share link. The COMMENT that is being replied to, however, WAS broadcast to fb via social, so shouldn’t replies be pulled in?
