I tried that method, but with the index.php and htaccess file being in the root, any link to a non wordpress page will not display. Again, I was able to get the wp site up and running without a problem, but when I call a specific url: xyz.com/private/members/index.htm from the wp site, the link becomes invalid. As soon as I rename the index.php in the root directory and restore the original root index.html, then the link to the member’s section works fine.
