I’m using FF 1.0.7 at the moment, which is revision 1.7.12, so I see it in one large column (with my default background – you forgot to set yours to what I assume was intended to be white) but you script is not bouncing me to your explaination page.

I daresay you may be without large numbers of visitors for some time as even CSS2 isn’t fully supported by browsers in general let alone CSS3.

One solution is not to float the main content area on the left, just the sidebar to the right. If this doesn’t work I’d look for a stray clear: property.

1&1 tend to have some support issues. I have some budget hosting with https://www.linhosting.com since about March and they have been very good so far. https://www.Tera-Byte.com are pretty decent as well but not as cheap. https://www.unitedhosting.co.uk are a good option for a UK company. While I haven’t tried them yet, TextDrive.com looks interesting.

As podz says, lots of information out there, just take some time and wade through some. The forums on webhostingtalk.com can often be a good source of information by searching for the hosts you’re interested in.

More on topic, it’s always good to keep potential security problems in mind, even minor ones.

Their web site is up but the sign up section has been down for a week or more.

Try reducing the line-height in your stylesheet, or remove it altogether and use the default for the font size/weight.

The only free hosts with php/mysql I know of is https://www.freehostia.com/ https://www.hostmatrix.org and https://www.frihost.com though there are likely others a search on Google would turn up.

An inexpensive paid host offering PHP/MySQL is https://www.spaceports.com at $20/year USD. A decent inexpensive host is https://www.linhosting.com. The basic plan is only $35/year USD. A visit to the offers forum on https://www.webhostingtalk.com or https://www.hosthideout.com might turn up other options as well.

I have been trying Linhosting for some budget hosting for about 7 months. I had a bit of problems when I tried installing WordPress as it was a problem with a PHP MySQL client needing updating. I contacted support and within a day they had not only solved the problem but upgraded PHP, MySQL and Zend for me.
