In reply to: WordPress 3.5 media file handler not properly inserting contentesmi, please understand I do appreciate the help. I wasn’t trying to be defensive – just trying to explain that I wasn’t trying to break the rules – thought I was doing the right thing.
Anyway – upon further digging we realized that although we had turned off the plugins – the test site we were using still had one installed.
We discovered that “Flexible Lightbox” by Alain Gonzales was in fact conflicting with the new media library.
This brings up two additional questions:
1) Is there a good tool that you folks recommend to specifically unload plugins globally from all sites after the plugin has been “network deactivated” and
2) Is there a lightbox plugin that WordPress recommends? Thanks again for your help.

In reply to: WordPress 3.5 media file handler not properly inserting contentEmsi – we actually already reviewed all of that. I would point out that per those instructions: “Do make your own topic unless your problem is 100% exactly the same as someone elses (it will be easier for us to help YOU that way)”
In my opinion, the other post I originally chimed in on was 100% exactly the same problem and I’ve seen multiple times where folks have been chided for starting a new topic rather than piggy backing on to the same topic – so I guess I’m whining a bit about the conflicting instructions.
Anyway we’ve tested in an environment where plugins are disabled and with the stock WordPress Twenty Twelve theme on a dedicated server that was working perfectly before the upgrade.
As I mentioned above – we also tried the “popular” fix but like other users that has not worked for us either.

In reply to: Media LIbrary Not Working ProperlyAgreed. And in our case we are running on a dedicated server so there’s nothing “missing” like could happen in a shared hosting environment.
Was working perfectly until the 3.5 upgrade.
Also want to point out that the solution noted in this other forum post does not work for us and others have also indicated this only sometimes works.
This is an urgent issue and one that more than just a few people are struggling with. I’m hoping someone at WordPress HQ eventually offers us a solution that works…

In reply to: Media LIbrary Not Working ProperlyHaving same problem with media files. We can upload images but when we hit the “add media” nothing happens. For now we are uploading the image and then using HTML to place it. Any suggestions would be welcome. (NOTE: Media library was working *perfectly* before this upgrade.)
This is really frustrating because, in theory, this plugin does *exactly* what we need it to do. The alternative we came up with is to:
(1) Use YD Network-wide options which works to propagate settings across the multi-site network. Just watch out because there’s some encrypted code in this plugin. We’ve removed that encyrpted bit without it negatively impacting the operation of the plugin.
(2) Use the most excellent “free” version of Admin Menu Editor (placed in the mu-plugins directory per instructions) which allows for control as to who has access to what within the system.
If and when the Multisite Plugin Manager starts working again – would love to go back to it instead of YD… but am really enjoying the Admin Menu Editor as a resource and will likely continue using it.

In reply to: Clicking Preview in Multisite Creates 404 ErrorOh – so sorry – I candidly couldn’t find where to post bugs – so thank you for the link and the help. Will post there now.
We are running a production environment with around 500 active sites. We rely on roughly 70 plugins for various pieces of functionality. No way to easily do what you suggest. We did turn off various security related systems to see if the problem was there – but no joy. Is there a “debug” mode available or some kind of error log you would suggest looking at that could tell us what the conflict is?
