the issue was a broken table in MySQL. I just put in a command to repair table wp_comments and everything works — all my comments are recovered and commenting works again! ??

changing the .htaccess back to the bare minimum does nothing either. so it has nothing to do with a plugin, htaccess, or the template… what a mystery.

great. re-uploading the default wp-comments-post file just erased all the comments in the history of my site.

can someone please provide some support? it would be greatly appreciated.

haven’t found a fix yet. any tips?

also, it is not a theme-related issue. I disabled this theme and tried a bunch of others, including the default, and the issue persists. some of the themes even bring up a 404 page when attempting to submit a comment.

when I try to access the picture that caused this, I get the following:

Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp-content/uploads/2010/07/kshaker2.jpg could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

and it is coming from my IP… cPanel is my e-mail service connected to my account and I hadn’t checked it all day. so unless someone in my apartment is connecting that many times, it’s impossible. it has to be the picture uploads since it always happens immediately after it

the server blocks me immediately whenever I try to upload the pictures though. is WordPress trying to re-connect desperately to some server or something with the wrong login?

I’m only asking because they un-banned me again, but I don’t want it to happen again.

ah. looks like I solved the issue myself. it’s working for now.
