In reply to: Can’t Embed ANY video in wordpressI am having trouble getting this “clean XHTML” thing. By changing the code to adhere to a standard (and removing embed) you are limiting the number of people who can see your post. The fact is that the object tag does not work correctly (in Firefox or old browsers) on all machines. You are choosing standards compliance over compatibility, which is fine if that is your choice. My problem is that somewhere the decision was made that wordpress would change an authors’ post to enforce compliance over compatibility, regardless of the wishes of the author. Even using the “code” tag does not stop it from removing the embed tag and limiting ones audience. Shouldn’t there be an easy way around this for people who value maximum possible compatibility over standards compliance?
The question of course, is why does the object tag work on some machines and not others, running the same browser?

In reply to: Embed code disappears (for some users) in WordPress 2.7I have administrator access. Whenever I try to embed video from youtube I go to html view, use the
tag, then paste right in the embed video from youtube, then use
. If I then immediately save and leave, all is good. If I edit any more in the post, or go back in and edit something later, wordpress changes the code and removes the embed statements and leaves just the object code. After this the video no longer shows up on my mac under Firefox, although I see it is still visible on a windows PC. This is extremely frustrating having to battle WP every time I want to do something to simple as embed a video from youtube. I guess it is naive of me to think that thetag means "don't mess with this at all", but that is surely what I want. I read another thread that suggested the object only code is in some way better. After WP has "fixed" my code (by breaking it) and removed the embed statements, should the video still be showing on all machines? (and why can't I see it). I tried using the Add Media tool using the instructions at https://support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/ and it only inserts a link to the video, does not embed video in the post as the instructions say it will.
There are lots of different threads around here on users struggling with various problems with this very basic blogging function of embedding a youtube video. I have been battling it for many versions now and 2.7.1 still doesn't have it right. Solving this issue would mean a lot more to many users, I think, than a complete makeover of the interface. -please pardon my frustrationForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Remember me does not remember meI am having the same problem since 2.6.1 . It will not remember I am logged in. Even if I just go to another page and come back, I have to enter password again. Even if I open a new tab or window to the dashboard when I am already logged in to the dashboard, it will ask me for my password again. I never log out. Using Mac OS X 10.4.11, was Firefox 2.something, now Firefox 3.01 . Tried deleting all cookies to start fresh, no change. Any suggestions! Before upgrading I was able to just stay logged in for many days at a time.
Whenever I have a problem with WordPress I search the forums and find lots of other people having the same problem. The sad part is that usually most of the posts are weeks or months old and there is rarely if ever a solution available.

In reply to: Auto-save posts/pages. Option to turn it off.My big problem with the auto save is that the first save happens 1-2 seconds after opening the write post screen. It is a race to get a good title in fast enough or else the permalink gets set to something generic, or to only the first part of the title. Along with a way to turn it off all together, it would be nice if it waited the entire 60 second interval before the first save.
