Go into Users / Profile and waaaay down at the bottom left, uncheck the box “Use visual rich editor”. The error goes away, and the visual rich editor comes back. Go figure.

Switching back to default permalinks fixed all my 404s too, thank heaven. My brain had been slowly melting over that one. Now must figure out how to have pretty permalinks without getting the 404s back.

Azwaldo, that’s strange. I downloaded the latest WordPress yesterday (jan 6 2007), and there are only 56 files in my images folder (wp-includes/js/tinymce/themes/advanced/images).

Regardless – I’ve been having this problem for about 2 months. I finally just re-installed the latest version, but that didn’t help. The only thing that has helped was un-checking the “use visual rich editor” box helps. Today! We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

I just started having this problem recently, after having made no changes. Why is this marked resolved?

The “preview” function is not working, even for posts that clearly are appearing on the blog. It thinks they’re not on the server.

So this sure sounds like it’s a directory problem.
