In reply to: Replacing photos? Can you check to see if your iFeature Theme is activated?
It is good practice to delete themes (and plugins) that you are not using. (You can keep 2012 which is helpful if you ever need to debug your site)
Forgive me if you have already check this in your process.
Let me know and we can figure out a next step.
Looking forward,

In reply to: Can't login to control panelHello Rebah,
first – can you do a back up?This is a best practice before we start troubleshooting your problem.
Next – can you rename your Plugins folder to PLUGINS OFF via FTP?
If this helps you log in, please let me know.
It is my hope that this is the first step in moving you forward,

I will do my best to help you through this.Do you have access to your cpanel?

In reply to: Replacing photos?Hello,
It is my hope that I can help you.If you go to Edit the Page that houses the images that you would like to replace.
Scrolling down and see where the image is loaded. Is there a REMOVE IMAGE option?
if so remove the image.then upload the new image to the MEDIA LIBRARY.
Go back to the EDIT PAGE – and you should see an add image – you can select your image from the media library.
I know that I had difficulty getting the sizing right. If this is the case…drag the theme template image onto your desktop and drop into photoshop to reveal the image size – and make sure that your new uploaded image is formatted with the same dimensions.
It is my hope that this helps you move forward!

In reply to: How to add Lightbox to gallery pictures?Hello Puretina,
I have heard nice things about the FAncybox plugin.https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/fancybox-for-wordpress/
when I went to check it out for you, I noticed that there is a notice that it hasn’t been updated recently. So you may do a search and see if there is a similar plugin out there, or if these guys made a new one, under a new name.
I hope all goes well, and you are moving forward again quickly.

In reply to: [Pictorico] Site is SO SLOWIn reading your initial post again, your images may still be too large, as not all images need to be at 600×800.
and my above post did not include the link to
https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails-new-image-sizes-wordpress/
I hope there is an improvement, as I can’t imagine your frustration at a very exciting time, with your site soon to launch.
Good luck for smooth waters.

In reply to: [Pictorico] Site is SO SLOWHello Alice,
I am happy that Smush it is helping a bit…sorry it didnt fix it all.First – do you have photoshop? If yes, drop your images in and under the images tab – check the size, should be in pixels and not outrageous numbers…also, resolution for web is standard 72.
Also, when you save in photoshop, you can choose just a bit underneath the standard save under FILE – to save for web and devices, and this helps as well.
Also, it is possible that your plugins are also weighing you site down. A good practice when troubleshooting is to do a little project. deactivate all your plugins, and add them back one at a time, while checking your load time in between. you can then sometimes find what is contributing the heavy load.
I was at a meeting of developers last night and we were talking about this very issue, and a plugin that made everyone light up was called Regenerate Thumbnails. I will say i have never used it, but other have to fantastic success.
I hope this was helpful. if you do not have photoshop, let me know and I will seek another solution.
moving forward,

In reply to: [Pictorico] Site is SO SLOWHello Alice,
Not sure if your issues are resolved, but you may wish to optimize your images (if you haven’t already done so…) this too may help with your speed issues.I have heard good things about wp smush.it
once installed it will work on any image you load into the media library with nothing for you to do differently, and there is an option to “clean up those images” that already reside on your site.
I hope you are running quickly in no time.
Looking forward

In reply to: Password changeHello Alan7s,
When in the dashboard – click on USERS and scroll down (the place to change your password isn’t immediately visible). There is a place to change your password.if you username is set to ADMIN – rather than changing your password for this user – click ADD NEW and set up a personal USER NAME and your new desired password.
Then go back after saving to delete the original ADMIN USER. (This helps protect you a bit from having your site hacked.)
I hope this is helpful.

In reply to: A Child Theme ConfusionHello Guaser,
I am currently researching child themes as well, and found a beautiful tutorial on the elegant themes site.https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/resources/wordpress-child-theme-tutorial
There are quite a few pages following the tutorial of questions and answers so you might start there.
I hope this helps, and you are quickly back on the path of creating your site.

In reply to: I'm Getting A Blank ScreenHey TheShopper!
This happened to me and this is what I did.I went into the directory via FTP and found the wp-config.php file.
look inside and find the debug line – it is set to false by default.
carefully change the false to true but keep everything else the same. and then go back and reload your white screen.
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false); With debugging on, you should see on the white screen what the problem is.
I hope this is helpful, a friend helped me with this, and I am happy to pay it forward!
