I did some more tests after reading last comment of @roxiebaby007.
– On my first site I “updated” current version of nextgen back to 2.0.66.37 and it is again working with all other plugins activated.
– But on my second site version 2.0.74 is still perfectly working also with all other plugins activated. The list of plugins are identical.
So far I do not think that there are some bad side effects with some special plugins.

On my site I have 100 galleries, 4000 images. Changing theme does not have a positive effect.

Same problem, same versions. In my admin area all other menu items of nextgen gallery are functional; nggallery-manage-album seems to be the only menu item which does not work.
WP: 4.1.1
NGG: 2.0.76

Same problem here… also current version 2.0.76 has the same effect.
@photocrati: for me it seemns that roxiebaby007 and maysky having the same problem.
I changed to previous nextgen version (2.0.71) without success. When deactiviting all other activated plugins, nggallery-manage-album shows the known page where galleries can be linked to albums. As soon as I am activating one additioanl plugins, nggallery-manage-album shows again empty page.
