In reply to: [WooCommerce] Multiple Images under product page/feature imageIn regard to these issues, two things I noticed:
First, when you create attributes that will be used for variations, &/or whe all possible variations combinations are created…let’s use Colors as an example…you will find that WC will create all of the various color potentials AND another one…ALL COLORS. If you leave that one, then clicking the color choices will not change the main image and the prices (regular and sales) will be what you set for All Colors, or the minimums from all the choices if you left All Colors price info blank.
Deleting All Colors, or the equivalent for some other attribute, from the product setup page’s variations choices, will cause the images, price info, etc, to swamp on the product page when a different option is picked in the dropdown. Just what we want.
Second thing I noticed is that I can only cause the thumbnail gallery to be created when I first upload images…not from the media gallery. Something is strange. WC really needs to add a button to the gallery creation page to either add or delete the thumbnails, just as it allow images or the whole large gallery to be added to the post (in Product Details).
That choice should be given…to display all of the thumbnails, or only show the variations by selecting from the variations dropdown.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Change image on mouseoverThe general trend seems to be that when someone clicks either a variation thumbnail or variation text choice in a dropdown (or radio button), the featured image changes to the new selection. But that doesn’t happen with WC. Also, while there are plugins that turn a mouseover image into zoom…that zoom is agonizing to me. It’s like looking at the picture with a magnifying glass. I would rather that the entire picture just “burst”, as if it had been clicked, and then reduce back to the original size when the mouse is moved off the image.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] products image handlingAlex,
I found that you can sort the images. There are not a lot of choice but if you click the headings title for the image name or the product it is associated with, you will sort them alphabetically, A-Z or Z-A. I have not looked but I would bet that there is a plug-in somewhere for WP itself that increases functionality in regard to media handling (storing & sorting them, etc).

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Add more product features than only weight and dimensionsHey Splash…Your answer is helpful, on the one hand. But you can bet that most people using WordPress, WooCommerce, etc, don’t have a clue as to how to write scripts!

In reply to: [WooCommerce] adding multiple featured images“Ditto”
The WooCommerce authors seem to think that how this is done is obvious in the instructions…but what is seen on the screen does not match the instructions, at least as far as I can see. Much else of WC is wonderful, but the image handling, especially when adding or changing images or when multiple images are to be associated with one product is just agonizingly cumbersome.
Like WooCommerce but the image handling seems to be agonizingly cumbersome. There is just the WP gallery. Only way I have associated multiple images with one product is to upload multiple images, click Set Featured Image, then select the one I really want “featured” and click Set Featured Image again. But, g-d help me if I want to change which one is featured or eliminate or add images to a product. More people than I cannot see how to set up a gallery for a product. That gallery should also not be duplicates of the main media gallery images in WP. After setting up my shop with less than 100 products, and going through the above process, I had 350 images in the main gallery. Then, deleting all but one of each set of duplicates removed the image from the most product listings AND the remaining image listed in the media gallery HAD no image showing…just the name. This is NOT at all intuitive. Very cumbersome, and I am a former network administrator. The instructions at WooCommerce do not match what appears on one’s screen. No ability, that I can see, to just select multiple images in the main media gallery to associate with one product & then select the featured image. There should be no need to create multiple galleries…just pick images & select the featured image. Picking them should not create copies. This is really agonizing, as I said.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Gallery imagesThat would be a nice feature, such as what is available at Amazon.com, but after an exhaustive search, I cannot find either an existing option or a plugin that does that. Sounds like a “wishlist” item…unless there is some general plugin that replaces one image with another one when clicking some third item…but does not change the default image for a future visit to the page.

In reply to: [WP Mingle] Crashed my test installI tried Mingle auto install and had issues. Then tried BuddyPress, WP Symposium, GR4A?. Had issues with all of them. Found a “5 Minutes to Mingle” or something like that…do a web search…and it works just fine. My only issues are 2-fold: First, it makes me, that admin, an invisible user (which I don’t want) and I cannot delete myself from the invisible user’s list. I’m sure there is an easy resolve.
2. I want various widgets or shortcodes in a custom sidebar, after deactivating the theme’s usual sidebars on the activity page…but, with numerous custom sidebar plugins, I don’t anticipate that will be an issue.I suggest trying Mingle again. On my second try, as above, I am pleased with it in general. And, the Mingle Forum looks simpler than bbForum or most others. Good Luck!
