    freedom and ability to scam people you mean, we all know what the site says on the surface, there’s alot more hidden motive behind it. GNU is just a way for developers and online companies to make themselves look humble while stealing peoples hard earned $$. It makes them look like upstanding web developers lol what a load of bsh i t. Fortunately, they are being looked into and may have to change their ways eventually, yahoo for online justice ??

    re: GPL is about liberty, not price. There is no agenda, apart from what you seem to perceive.

    ha ha liberty my ass, GNU is not protecting anyone’s liberty, people can see right through all the religous freedom crap they write on their site. Freedom for online business to rip people off perhaps.

    why should online companies get software for free then turn around and sell them to their customers, GNU is contributing to a very serious crime on the web if you ask me.

    All that perceived value online companies talk about is fake, its not worth anything because they didn’t pay for it.

    Hey i want to sell you this cardboard box for $50, its a cool box and best of all I got it for free but i’m going to make you pay for it – isn’t this fantastic

    someone needs to educate the online public about false web gods such as GNU

    i kind of understand a valid purpose to point a category to someplace, i have a category called photos but i would like it to point to my photo gallery vs having a link called photos, since photos is part of the categories it would make sense to link it directly to the gallery but unsure how to do so.

    i read it and understand how it works, it gives me warm fuzzy’s all over, its the hidden agenda behind GNU i was refering to, its how people/companies are utilizing GNU to get a free promo. One only has to ask the question why are many programs being designed as GNU if there were no profit/promo motive in it ? WITFM, obviously there is profit in GNU otherwise no one in their right mind would even consider GNU. Businesses uses GNU then turn around and sell it in their packages. Companies charge their customers for something they get for nothing (this is a scam). GNU was made for a purpose and there’s alot more behind it then people realize it.

    ha ha, i read some more from GNU site they are so full of ##%#, amazing what people can do with online presentation

    ended up at this thread and thought i’d post my 3 cents :))

    first of all GPL and every other so called common web license are not only useless but worthless, therefore its best not to rely too heavy on it.

    a rule of thumb, if your stuff is on the web it’s free game otherwise don’t put it on the web ??

    To debate GPL is silly it holds no weight in the real world so why cry about weather or not someone gets their acknowledgement. In actually, nothing is ever original and what one person creates has already been created by someone else so enough with the GPL crap please.

    who’s the idiots who created GPL, it’s well written of course and a good scam as we all know are always well written.

    If you are looking for some form of acknowledgement then sell your stuff otherwise don’t offer it for free with silly rules to acknowledge your work, if something is given freely, then its just that free aka (no restrictions)

    why do so many morons turn to GPL it’s doesn’t hold any weight and never will, the egos of the net need to be stomped!

    I tested it out on my local server and it works like magic, never needed to touch any wp-fuctions. The only thing is the styling for header, footer, images, etc would all come from the WP root (site root) vs the theme folder. What i would do is leave wp stylesheet alone then use another for the SSI

    the question: is this morally ok to refer to the WP root for the site layout vs the themes he he,
    or
    is it an unethical thing to do seeing that WP was meant to draw its theme from the theme directory don’t want to commit any wp deaily sin you know

    The old saying came to mind “if it works do it” :))

    i finally got this one to show up on the page

    <script language=”JavaScript” type=”text/javascript”>
    <!–

    var username = “moshu”;
    var hostname = “moshu.com”;
    var linktext = “contact us by email”;
    document.write(“<a href=” + “mail” + “to:” + username +
    “@” + hostname + “>” + linktext + “”)

    //–>

    </script>

    the only problem now is, it shows up at the very top of the page moving the wp layout down below it.

    I tried using a div tag but the javascript doesn’t seem to be formatable via the css

    anyone have any ideas how to drop the email down into the page where it belongs ?

    that format didn’t work for me, kind of makes sense though that some javascript wouldn’t work in pages, since the page is not a real page, just content spit out from the database

    yea your right, only thats for posts not pages, some of the examples given just do not work on pages unfortunately, kind of make sense seeing the page is only content spit out from the database therefore it’s not a real page that’s why the javascripts don’t work

    even tried the example given for the posts that didn’t work

    that link to codex only talks about linking to JS via the header, it doesn’t cover anythign about JS in pages

    that code didn’t work on this one

    <script language=”JavaScript” type=”text/javascript”>
    <!–

    var username = “moshu”;
    var hostname = “moshu.com”;
    var linktext = “contact us by email”;
    document.write(“<a href=” + “mail” + “to:” + username +
    “@” + hostname + “>” + linktext + “”)

    //–>

    </script>

    i tried that code from the link above and wp didn’t pull it up, h placed it in an external file and placed a javascript link in the page but it doesn’t bring the email into the page

    (@ongakukaku)

    managed to get it working by placing the page code into an external file then inserting a js link where the code was in the page, only the link doesn’t work with the wp php link to stylesheet dir function so i just used the standard wp-content/ url it works great
