  • There has got to be a better solution… anyone?
    Please help…

I too am having problems with Trackbacks … only some work. But what is worse is that at times when I have more than one trackback and I press ‘PUBLISH’ it gives me my blog’s 404 error page and wipes out the entire entry. Over the last few weeks I ahve lost several entries and I just get fed up and not post… I think I will have to start copying and pasting the entry before publishing…

But is there anything that can be done?
Are there certain types of trackback URLs that don’t work with WP 2.0 that I should stay away from?

    Mint is pretty cool.
I will first try awstats and will test slim stat as well.

Thanks for all the help and feedback!

miklb – I like the look of Slim Stat … and I can even migrate my ShortStat data to it… one question: will it slow me down considerably when I am posting?

VaamYob – I just checked the awstats and I like them too. The only problem is that I can’t see drill down detail in terms of IP address… was it someone surfing from a government office or from an insurance company?

You are right macmanx… I just figured it out a short while ago. I know I probably should have known this but the problem was the following:

I needed an .htaccess file for each add-on domain… I created one and voila! It works.

My apologies to all who contributed and tried to help out on something that seems as if it should have been relatively easy.

I will classify this one as ‘resolved!’

Just an update and to close this thread:
I simply uninstalled the whole thing. The problem had to do with my .htaccess and how it related to addon domains. The only solution I have at the moment is to get a reseller package and have a cPanel for each one of my accounts…

    Thanks.

    I installed WP manually.
Updated to my desired permalink structure and voila – it still does not work.

I am starting to think it might be my new host (ASO) since I do not have problems with other WP installation on another host.
Any other ideas would be appreciated…

It looks like the mod_rewrite is usable for me…
Another option I was given was to install manually instead of through Fantastico. I will give that a shot and report back on progress.

vakryl – I just posted a ticket at my host with that question… I will post the answer as soon as I get it.

I am copying here the first few lines of my .htaccess …

    What would I change?
    '
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^.*$ - [S=54]
    RewriteRule ^(7)/trackback/?$ /index.php?pagename=$1&tb=1 [QSA,L]
    RewriteRule ^(7)/feed/(feed|rdf|rss|rss2|atom)/?$ /index.php?pagename=$1&feed=$2 [QSA,L]
    RewriteRule ^(7)/(feed|rdf|rss|rss2|atom)/?$ /index.php?pagename=$1&feed=$2 [QSA,L]
    RewriteRule ^(7)/page/?([0-9]{1,})/?$ /index.php?pagename=$1&paged=$2 [QSA,L]
    '

Once again thanks for your help.

    Thanks Beel.
How do I do that? What does the line look like? And do I erase all the other stuff that I have put in there for my permalinks structure?

    Once more… gracias.

    (I use Firefox… I double-check stuff on IE)

Is there anything I can do?
Should I have the link in my sidebar go to one of those links posted by Beel in the previous post?

    Thanks again for the time…

Thanks for the help. I followed your instructions but it still does not work. Now it gives me a 404 error instead.

The problem might have started when I tried to change the permalinks the first time. WP told me that my .htaccess was not writable and therefore could not update it them for me. So I did it manually (copying and pasting what it tells me to copy and paste)… I even changed the permissions to 666… and then to 777…

Now when I went to change them as directed by you guys it still tells me that it is not writable. And even after changing the info on the .htaccess it does not work…

    Any other possibilities…
